The Government of Pará delivered, this Wednesday (23), the new building of the Hemonucleus of Tucuruí, which has been completely rebuilt. In the presence of Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, the new hemotherapy service structure in the region will directly benefit seven hospitals in various municipalities, including Tucuruí, Novo Repartimento, Breu Branco, Pacajá, and Goianésia do Pará.

With expanded collection rooms, requalified living space, and complete modernization of internal and external structures, the investment of R$ 1.5 million reinforces the Government's priority to improve public health care in the interior. The expansion will enhance the flow of donations and the speed of blood distribution, ensuring more safety for patients in surgeries, maternity wards, and emergency care.

"This environment reinforces the strategy of offering blood to the health system and to the population, not only of Tucuruí but of the entire Lake Region and part of the Transamazon region from a transfusion center and also a blood bank, allowing blood collections to be made here and distributed to hospitals in the region. Thus, we will be able to bring closer and expedite services, avoiding the need to seek in Marabá or Belém, thus ensuring supply and a stocked bank to meet the needs of those requiring blood in the region, from Hemopa, ensuring the health of the population," highlighted the Governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho.

The president of the Foundation Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology of Pará (Hemopa), Paulo Bezerra, emphasizes that the reconstruction brings more comfort for donors and staff, providing more opportunities for people to donate blood.

"This initiative is part of our policy of modernizing all Hemopa units throughout the state of Pará. The new station aims to expand our facilities, increasing the collection capacity and the number of chairs for donors, in order to better serve the population of the Tucuruí region. Additionally, we expanded the blood distribution room, optimizing storage to meet the needs not only of Tucuruí but also of municipalities like Breu Branco and Pacajá. Therefore, it is a modernization and expansion that provides greater comfort to our donors," he stated.

Social worker Rainan Furtado emphasizes that the Hemonucleus of Tucuruí has a group of frequent donors and that the reconstruction comes to further encourage blood donation in the region.

"Monthly, we manage to collect between 250 and 300 bags of blood. We also carry out campaigns, in which we manage to slightly increase this number. But the usual average is 250 to 300 monthly donations. In July, we usually observe a drop, as many people travel during the holidays. However, this month was atypical. Our stock is well supplied, and we managed to meet the population of Tucuruí and the lake region. We had a very good number of donations," he commented.

Operation - The Hemonucleus of Tucuruí operates from 7 am to 1 pm, Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, twice a month, from 7 am to 1 pm, to facilitate access for those who cannot attend during the week. Donations are only made in the morning. It is located on Avenida Viridiano Cardoso, near the bus station.
