The projected growth of the Gross Value of Production (VBP) for Pará for this year, compared to the previous year, is 16.85%, driven by the significant performance of crops and livestock. With this result, Pará consolidates its leadership in the North region. The State's VBP may reach, by the end of the year, the mark of R$ 45.12 billion, with R$ 26.48 billion coming from crops and R$ 18.65 billion from livestock.

The economic indicator reflects the performance of crops (permanent and temporary) and livestock throughout the year. The survey conducted by the State Secretariat for Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap) is based on estimated data up to the first six months of this year.

Soybean leads among crop products
The five main agricultural products of Pará account for 96.34% of the Gross Value of Production of crops in 2025. Soybean leads this group, with an estimated value of R$ 8.40 billion, which represents 31.72% of the VBP of crops and 18.61% of the total VBP of the State. Following are cocoa – R$ 8.14 billion; cassava – R$ 4.39 billion; corn – R$ 3.36 billion, and banana – R$ 1.22 billion.

In livestock, in 2025, cattle ranching stands out as the main activity in Pará, representing 91.28% of the Gross Value of Production of the sector, with an estimated value of R$ 17.02 billion. This amount corresponds to 37.72% of the total VBP of the State, as indicated by the survey, consolidating the activity as the main force of the agribusiness in Pará. Next in this group are chicken – R$ 982.61 million; milk – R$ 443.04 million, and eggs – R$ 200.58 million.

Subsidy - The study is developed by the Planning Center of Sedap, through the Statistics Sector, with the aim of supporting government management in the agricultural segment with strategic information for action planning, in addition to keeping the interested sector informed, informs statistician Ulisses Silva Barata, responsible for the preparation of the agricultural forecast.

The calculation of the VBP is based on the harvest production, with data from the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production (LSPA), from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), clarifies the statistician. In the case of livestock, the study is based on sources such as the Quarterly Survey of Animal Slaughter (IBGE), Quarterly Milk Survey (IBGE), Chicken Egg Production (IBGE), and the prices received by producers in the main markets of the country.

Cocoa is one of the main products of Pará's crops

The bulletin covers the 22 main agricultural products in Brazil, among which are cocoa, banana, orange, sugarcane, soybean, and cassava (crop products) and livestock products (from cattle, pigs, and poultry), such as milk and eggs.

“The real value of production, already discounted for inflation, is calculated based on the General Price Index – Internal Availability (IGP-DI), from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV). This index is calculated monthly, with updates and disclosures by the 15th of each month,” informs Ulisses Silva.

Strategic - The projections for 2025 reinforce the strategic role of Pará in the Brazilian agricultural scenario, highlighting its performance in the North region, emphasized the coordinator of Nuplan, Maria de Lourdes Minssen. “These results reflect not only the dynamism of the agricultural sector in Pará but also its growing relevance for regional and national development. The data presented in this bulletin support the formulation of public policies, strategic planning, and monitoring of trends, contributing to more assertive and sustainable decisions by the public authorities, the productive sector, and other involved agents,” highlighted the coordinator.
