Concluding the July Yellow campaign, the Regional Hospital of Oriximiná Menino Jesus (HRMJ) held an educational lecture on July 28 focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of viral hepatitis.

The activity was part of the awareness program carried out throughout the month, which also included rapid testing, vaccination, and guidance for the public and staff.

Viral hepatitis — classified into types A, B, C, D, and E — are infections that affect the liver and can lead to serious complications, such as cirrhosis and liver cancer.

The campaign aimed to raise awareness among the population about the importance of early testing and proper treatment, reducing the incidence and mortality of these diseases.

The lecture was conducted by nurse Thiago Gemaque from the Hospital Epidemiology Center of HRMJ. “We highlighted for the patients the modes of transmission, prevention measures, and the locations for vaccination and testing available in the municipality,” he said.

The guidance emphasized the importance of not sharing personal items such as nail clippers, blades, and toothbrushes, as well as the care with hand hygiene and food.

For patient Rosilene dos Anjos Santos, a resident of Oriximiná, the initiative was very enlightening. “I found the lecture very good. They explained the types of hepatitis, the causes, and ways to prevent it. An important tip was about vaccination,” she evaluated.

Internal actions - In addition to activities aimed at the external public, the hospital also promoted educational actions with its staff.

Lectures were held, 452 rapid tests conducted, 165 vaccination doses administered, and condoms distributed in partnership with the Testing and Counseling Center (CTA) and the Specialized Assistance Service (SAE).

The professionals were guided on prevention, emphasizing the risk of accidents with sharp materials.

100% SUS Care - As a reference for medium and high complexity in the region, the Regional Hospital of Oriximiná Menino Jesus has 26 infirmary beds, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 16 welcoming beds. The unit offers 100% free care through the Unified Health System (SUS), focusing on humanized and comprehensive care for the population.

It is equipped to perform laboratory and imaging tests, serving in seven specialties: anesthesiology, general medicine, general and gynecological surgery, orthopedics, traumatology, and intensive medicine.

The hospital is located at Rua Barão do Rio Branco, 3,288, in the Santa Terezinha neighborhood, in Oriximiná.
