Curuçá Safer: Military Police strengthens presence with Operation Summer 2025
The municipality, located in the northeastern state, has been receiving a large flow of tourists during this month of July

Popularly known as "Land of Paraense Folklore", the municipality of Curuçá, located in the northeastern state, has been receiving a large flow of tourists during this month of July. Aiming at this scenario, the Military Police reinforced the security of the locality, significantly increasing the workforce throughout the summer period.
Historically, Curuçá was founded from Jesuit missions in the 17th century and was elevated to city status in 1895. Situated on the banks of the river that bears its name, the territory has a strong connection with coastal ecosystems, being a reference in artisanal fishing of shrimp, crab, and oysters. In addition, the city keeps alive a rich cultural tradition with festivals, such as the Folklore Festival, which strengthens regional identity and attracts visitors from all over the state.
Commander of the 24th Police Platoon for over seven years, 1st Sergeant Modesto highlighted the importance of Operation Summer for the municipality.
"Whether during long holidays or the vacation month, the Military Police always reinforces the workforce in this area, as it is a tourist hub and attracts a large number of people. Through foot patrols, we reinforce our presence at the main points of the city, namely the municipal market and the waterfront, the latter being where the major festivities of this month take place, such as the Folklore Festival and the Summer Girl event," stated the commander of the 24th PPD.

Furthermore, in order to reinforce traffic education and guide drivers on safety behind the wheel, the Municipal Traffic Department, in conjunction with the Military and Civil Police, and the Municipal Guard, has been carrying out the Operation Curuçá Safe. The activities included educational blitzes, document checks, and preventive actions to reduce accidents and ensure greater safety on the roads.
"The presence of security forces in Curuçá is of great relevance to the population, as it allows us to enjoy with more tranquility, leisure, and, above all, safety during this vacation period," highlighted local resident Vitor Pompeu.
Operation Summer 2025 will continue until August 4 with more than 7,000 military personnel in tourist locations and areas of high circulation. In addition to the reinforced workforce, the structure includes 223 vehicles, including cars and motorcycles, aerial and river patrols, and integrated command centers, which allow real-time monitoring of security actions.
