The Government of Pará was present at the opening of the 26th edition of the Supermarkets and Suppliers Convention of the Northern Region (SuperNorte 2025), held this Thursday (7) at Hangar – Amazon Convention Center, in Belém. Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan attended the ceremony, which brought together leaders from the retail and wholesale sectors to discuss innovations, sustainability, and growth prospects.

With the theme "Sustainable Business — Time to Advance with COP30", the convention runs until Saturday (9) and is expected to generate around R$ 75 million in business, in addition to attracting 30,000 visitors. Organized by the Pará Supermarkets Association (Aspas), with support from the State Government, the event features more than 60 exhibitors, including representatives from national, regional companies, and local entrepreneurs. Traditionally held in October, the convention was moved to August due to preparations for COP30, which will have Belém as the host city.

The supermarket sector is the engine of the Pará economy

During the ceremony, Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted the relevance of the sector for the state and national economy.

"They are the largest employers in our state, leading, whether in retail or wholesale, commerce in Pará, with more than 75,000 people directly employed and exceeding 300,000 indirectly. This SuperNorte converges and brings together all the strength and excellence of the supermarket sector to value those who work, invest, and believe in the potential of Pará," said the head of the state Executive.

Helder Barbalho was also honored during the ceremony, alongside Vice Governor Hana Ghassan and Councilor Nelson Chaves, for supporting the implementation of the City Park, a public urban facility considered a national reference.

Connection with COP30 and sustainability

The governor also celebrated the choice of the theme for this edition, aligned with the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which will be held in Belém in November 2025.

"I celebrate the choice of the theme for this edition of SuperNorte, which is connected with this moment when Pará leads the sustainability agenda in Brazil and the world. Consumers are increasingly attentive and demand sustainable practices, and it is essential that the retail and wholesale sectors align with this new reality," emphasized Helder Barbalho.

The Government of Pará presents local productive potential

During the program, the State Government has a booth coordinated by the Directorate of Industry, Commerce, and Services of the Secretariat of Economic Development, Mining, and Energy (DDCIS/Sedeme). The space highlights products from Pará companies and cooperatives focusing on quality and valuing regional production.

Among the exhibitors are:

  • Xingu Destilados, from Altamira, producer of the artisanal cachaça Xinguara;
  • Chocolates Cacau Xingu, from Brasil Novo, specialized in artisanal chocolates with organic cocoa;
  • Pipocas Cor-de-Rosa, from Castanhal, with a diverse line of sweet, salty popcorn, and snacks.
