The Government of Pará, through the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company (Emater), delivered 30 National Registries of Family Agriculture (CAFs) to settled families in the municipality of Concórdia do Pará, in the northeast of the State, on Friday (8). The Government's initiative reinforces the commitment to provide technical assistance to family farmers and highlights the expansion of rural extension in the most remote areas of the municipalities' urban centers.

“I thank God first for this benefit that Emater has brought to us, because the CAF will help a lot in the lives of the farmers here. It will help us obtain financing credits to create projects and improve our lives, our productions, with sustainability,” said Valdira Neves, rural producer and secretary of the Jutaí-Miri Settlement Association.

Delivery of CAFs in Concórdia do Pará

More than 200 families are served in 33 communities in Concórdia. They cultivate cassava, black pepper, açaí, oil palm, coconut, cocoa, citrus, cupuaçu, passion fruit, banana, and vegetables, and raise beef cattle, free-range chickens, and fish.

Signing of the Cooperation Agreement

“We are delivering 30 CAFs to the settled farmers here in Concórdia do Pará, but just this year we have already delivered about 170. With this document, they will be able to organize their productions, market the products through the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) and the National School Feeding Program (PNAE), in addition to gaining access to rural credits,” explained rural extension agent and livestock technician Valmiro Botelho, from the local Emater office in Concórdia do Pará.

Expansion - During the delivery ceremony on the shores of Lake do Onça, with the presence of representatives from the Federal Government, the State, and the City Hall, as well as family farmers, Emater-Pará also signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement (TCT) with the municipality of Concórdia do Pará, to intensify rural extension work.

“This signing reinforces the commitment of the Government of Pará to expand technical assistance and services for family farmers, uniting Federal, State, and Municipal governments to benefit the lives of rural people, bringing public policies and improving economic development throughout the State,” emphasized Joniel Abreu, president of Emater-Pará.
