Polyclinic Carajás surpasses the mark of 33 thousand appointments in Marabá
Unit consolidates as a reference in specialized consultations and medium and high complexity exams, offering various medical specialties

Delivered to the population in April of this year by Governor Helder Barbalho, the Polyclinic Carajás Miguel Chamom, in Marabá, surpassed this week the impressive mark of 33 thousand appointments. The number includes specialized consultations and medium and high complexity exams, reinforcing the unit's role as a reference in southeastern Pará.

According to data collected by the institution, 8,371 consultations have been conducted up to this week since its opening, with highlights for the most sought-after specialties: cardiology, ophthalmology, and orthopedics. In the area of exams, there were 24,752 procedures, with the most demanded being laboratory tests, CT scans, X-rays, and ultrasounds.

One of the patients treated is Maria Ribeiro de Oliveira, 83 years old, a resident of São João, who visited the unit to undergo an X-ray exam. She mentioned that she had previously had a specialized consultation at the location and highlighted the importance of the service for those living far from the urban center.

“It's good to have everything in one place. First, I had my consultation right here, and now I've come to do the exam, without needing to go to other places or wait a long time. We arrive, are well received, and everyone treats us with respect and patience. This makes our lives easier, especially for those who are older and live far away, like me. I feel safe and well cared for here, and that is priceless,” she stated.

The unit of the Government of Pará, managed by the Social and Environmental Institute of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), is a reference in more than 30 medical specialties and medium and high complexity exams. The institution offers humanized and welcoming care at all stages of the service.
Another user who approved the service was Gisele Silva, 42 years old, a resident of Marabá, in the Carajás region, who underwent a blood laboratory test at the unit. “I went to the gynecologist right here, and she requested tests that I already did at the same place. It's all convenient, quick, and well organized. Everyone deserves congratulations for the service, and it’s close to my house, which makes it much easier,” she said.

The Polyclinic Carajás offers care in various medical specialties, including: orthopedics, cardiology, ophthalmology, gynecology, anesthesiology, dermatology, hepatology, infectious diseases, mastology, pulmonology, psychiatry, rheumatology, urology, and clinical neurology. The institution also conducts a range of laboratory and imaging exams, including colonoscopy, endoscopy, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, electroencephalogram, fibronasolaryngoscopy, bone densitometry, stress test, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound (conventional and with Doppler), CT scan, and X-ray, among others.

For the director of the Polyclinic, the numbers reinforce the importance of decentralizing health services and facilitating access for the population. “Our commitment is to provide quick diagnoses and specialized follow-up, so that the patient can resolve their health needs in one place, with agility and care. This way, we avoid long trips, reduce waiting times, and ensure a better quality of life for those in need,” he concluded.

State regulation for appointments
The appointments at the Polyclinic are regulated by the State Regulation Center, under the responsibility of the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). To access the services, citizens must seek a Basic Health Unit in their municipality. After evaluation, the health professional will provide the necessary referral. Then, the patient must present the referral document and their personal data to the Municipal Health Department, which will register and schedule in the State Regulation System.
