The Regional Hospital of Tapajós (HRT), in Itaituba, in the southwest of Pará, held a special event on Wednesday (13) for Pregnancy Day, celebrated on August 15. The program, organized by the Humanization Commission, brought together a multidisciplinary team including a nutritionist, physiotherapist, psychologist, and obstetric nurse at the unit's outpatient clinic to guide pregnant women on essential care during pregnancy.

Among the topics covered were healthy eating, adapted physical activity, emotional well-being, prevention of complications, and clarification of common doubts in prenatal care.

29 weeks pregnant, Marilene de Oliveira, 30 years old, attentively followed the instructions. She shared that she discovered her pregnancy only in the fifth month after experiencing unusual abdominal pain.

"It was a surprise for me. These guidelines are all new; I didn't know anything. Now I understand how the next changes in my body will happen, and I realized that it's important to have psychological support during this period," she said.

After the lecture, Marilene was referred for specialized care, as the Regional Hospital of Tapajós is a reference for high-risk obstetrics.

According to Carlos Henrique, the Assistance Manager of the Regional Hospital of Tapajós, the activity reinforces the unit's commitment to humanized care, especially for high-risk pregnant women.

"Our humanization actions are designed to welcome and guide our audience. High-risk obstetrics is one of our priorities, and moments like this help prevent problems and ensure that the pregnant woman feels supported at all stages of pregnancy," he emphasized.

Pregnancy Day was created to encourage prenatal care and reinforce the importance of health care for mothers and babies.

Since its establishment for the population in 2022, the Regional Hospital of Tapajós has already performed 931 deliveries, with 95 in the first half of 2025 alone. The unit also offers outpatient consultations and specific exams for pregnant women, strengthening the maternal and child care network in the region.

Managed by the Social Institute Mais Saúde in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), the hospital belongs to the Government of Pará and has 153 beds, including Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal ICUs. With this structure, the unit plays a prominent role in providing specialized assistance and decentralizing medical services.
