From August 21 to 23, 2025, the State Secretariat of Tourism of Pará (Setur) will participate in the National Tourism Fair 2025 in São Paulo. Promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, the Fair is a national showcase for presenting tourist experiences and excellent products, bringing together professionals from the sector, public managers, entrepreneurs, and visitors.

The Secretariat's participation will be in three ways. This year, Pará will have its own booth, exclusively dedicated to the exhibition and operation of four previously selected Amazonian experiences, representing different tourist regions of Pará. The institutional presence of the municipalities at the event will be at the 2nd National Seminar on Regionalization of Tourism, which takes place concurrently and during the same period as the Fair, bringing together representatives from all over the country to discuss strategies and strengthen the decentralized management of tourism.

Even before the event, on August 20, Setur, in partnership with Braztoa (Brazilian Association of Tour Operators), will promote Pará Day, an opportunity for training on the destination, business rounds, and an immersive experience in Pará's gastronomy. The Pará chef Saulo Jennings will be responsible for lunch, with the presence of national and international tour operators. Saulo was elected in 2024 as the gastronomic ambassador of UN Tourism, being the first person to receive the title in the world, and he is considered a reference in valuing food inspired by the food culture of the Tapajós river region.

"Participating in one of the largest tourism events in Brazil is a unique opportunity to showcase products and experiences of tourism in Pará. We are bringing a part of our identity so that Brazil knows even more about our gastronomy, handicrafts, and birdwatching experiences. Our mission is to continue working to promote all the grandeur and tourism potential of the State," said the head of Setur, Eduardo Costa.

From Marajó to Belém: discover the selected experiences for the Fair

The selected experiences were Market Kitchen, Alter do Chão Recovery – MAD Experience, Pará Birding Tour, and Marajoara Ceramics.

Birdwatching, as it is known worldwide, is the hobby of observing birds. This observation can be done just with binoculars or upgraded with the use of cameras to capture these records. "The activity basically consists of creating a sticker album, a Pokémon hunting game for adults, but here the Pokémons are real animals from the wildlife, and there is no hunting, only observation and, at most, photographic records," explains Fernanda Freitas from the Pará Birding Tour agency, which operates in Belém, Santa Bárbara, Acará, Bragança, Paragominas, and Parauapebas.

"Birdwatching tourism begins when an observer starts traveling with the goal of recording new species, thus boosting the economy and contributing to the maintenance of the forest and biodiversity," explains Fernanda Freitas.

"This is the experience we will take to the Tourism Fair, through videos, photos, websites, and apps, we will present Amazon birdwatching to the large audience of the Fair, showing what the Amazon has best, besides, of course, its people and its cuisine, it is biodiversity," adds Fernanda.

For her, participating in the Fair represents a validation of the work built with seriousness and commitment, based on responsible tourism. "We hope to show that Pará has great references when it comes to generating income with the forest standing, and that we are here in the territory working daily for the preservation of our forests and our biodiversity," she assesses.

Operating in Belterra and Alter do Chão, the Mad Experience promises to present an immersion and healing experience, focusing on the Tapajós territory, a region named after the indigenous group that inhabited it in Pará. The action will involve a food experience, therapies, and activities.

At the Pará booth, it will also be possible to see some original pieces using traditional techniques and natural pigments. The pieces were developed by the Ateliê Arte Mangue Marajó, which has been transforming Amazonian raw material into original and authorial pieces since 2013 in the municipality of Soure, on Marajó Island.

According to Bruna Sampaio, responsible for the atelier, she highlighted that "being at the Fair will be an incredible experience, which will give us the opportunity to showcase our authentic Marajoara ceramics that were developed by our ancestors. And to be able to acquire new experiences," she points out.

Gastronomic immersive tourism in the Ver-o-Peso complex, with a selection of daily ingredients and playful and creative cooking classes. This is the fourth selected experience, the Market Kitchen, from Casa da Luna, which will be presented by chef, sommelier, and entrepreneur Ana Luna Lopes. "In practice, we take groups of up to 20 people for tours in Ver-o-Peso and return home for a cooking class with the ingredients selected at the market. At the Fair, we will present the dynamics of our immersion, with videos about the tours, the cooking classes, and about the interaction of people with these aspects related to historical heritage, açaí, and our food culture," said the entrepreneur.

Luna states that it is a great emotion to take this project to be seen by so many people, in such an important showcase as the Tourism Fair. "It is also an opportunity to show the Ver-o-Peso complex in a deeper way with all the cultural and social entanglement that composes this place of fundamental importance for the city, for the economy of the municipality, but today also very important for tourism and for the future of tourism in Belém," she points out.
