Sedap meets with the national leadership of Ceplac to strengthen cocoa farming in the Amazon
The meeting addressed topics such as the expansion of agricultural policy, vertical integration of production, support for projects pending approval, among others

The Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap) received this morning, the 14th, the new National Director of the Executive Commission of the Cocoa Crop Plan (Ceplac), Thiago Viana, on his first official visit to Pará, in compliance with institutional agenda.
The objective of the meeting is to expand knowledge about the main strategic segments of regional cocoa farming and promote the strengthening of institutional relations between Ceplac and the agencies and entities operating in the Pará Amazon.
According to the National Director of Ceplac, there are four paths to strengthen cocoa farming in Brazil. “The strengthening of the cocoa sector and Ceplac goes through credit, technical assistance and rural extension, agricultural defense, and research and innovation. So, I believe that with these guidelines and the unity of the Amazon states, we can listen to the sectors and farmers to present a structured plan to the Ministry,” he emphasizes.

The head of Sedap, Secretary Giovanni Queiroz, presented the main projects of the state government for cocoa development, emphasized the sustainable agriculture model practiced by Pará farmers, and made himself available for joint action with national Ceplac.
“We have several programs that prioritize the sustainable chain, such as Procacau and Sustainable Territories. Our cocoa is agroforestry, recognized as reforestation, this is one of our differentiators. We hope to strengthen the partnership with Ceplac to further boost our economy and improve the quality of life of the people living in the forest,” the secretary emphasized.
Throughout the meeting, the topics discussed included the expansion of agricultural policy, vertical integration of production, support for projects pending approval, and the opportunities to host the World Climate Conference (COP-30). Technical representatives from Sedap/PA, Ceplac Superintendency, and the State Secretary of Agriculture of Acre were present.
