Oriximiná Hospital performs 980 pharmaceutical interventions and enhances medication safety
The focus on medication safety involves the processes of selection, standardization, storage, fractionation, and pharmaceutical analysis
The Regional Hospital of Oriximiná Menino Jesus (HRMJ) has reinforced safety and efficacy in the treatment of hospitalized patients through pharmaceutical interventions carried out by the Clinical Pharmacy team.
The initiative aims to optimize the use of medications, prevent problems related to drug therapy, and promote the health of users.
Patient Edson Silva do Nascimento, 34 years old, a resident of the city of Novo Progresso, reported improvements after the action. "The pharmacist, along with the nursing team, intervened, asked if I was feeling unwell, and coordinated with the doctor. They changed my medication, and I showed improvements," he said.
Pharmacist Josiane dos Santos Carmo explained that the interventions are part of pharmaceutical care monitoring.
"They can occur in situations such as adverse reactions, drug interactions, inadequate doses, or even the absence of indication for a medication. Our job is to ensure patient safety," she stated.
The Clinical Pharmacy service at the hospital operates 24 hours, with bedside visits, prescription analysis, and patient guidance.
Discardometer: safe disposal of medications
As part of the Good Chain project — EcoMedicamentos, the pharmacy has implemented collection points for expired or unused medications, known as Discardometers. One is available at the main entrance for the public and another in the internal area for employees. The action aims to prevent health and environmental risks by encouraging responsible disposal.
HRMJ has already achieved significant numbers. There were 168,921 medications dispensed, 980 pharmaceutical interventions, and 3,243 pharmaceutical activities (admission, intervention, evolution, and discharge).
100% SUS service and modern structure
