At the 70th Brazilian Congress of Genetics, Hemopa Foundation encourages blood and bone marrow donation
The event takes place at Hangar, in Belém, until next Saturday (16), connecting science and biodiversity in the Amazon
The Hemotherapy and Hematology Center of Pará Foundation (Hemopa) participates in the 70th Brazilian Congress of Genetics, which takes place from August 13 to 16 at Hangar - Center for Conventions and Fairs of the Amazon, in Belém. This edition is special not only for celebrating seven decades of the event's history but also for being held in the Amazon, connecting science and biodiversity in a unique setting on the planet.
The congress brings together professionals and researchers from various health and genetics fields, from different regions of Brazil and abroad. The program has been designed to address the main contemporary challenges and advancements, with lectures, conferences, symposia, and workshops led by national and international experts. The central theme provokes reflections on the role of science in building knowledge, maintaining life, and preserving ecosystems.

Interaction - Within this atmosphere of innovation and social commitment, the Hemopa Foundation participates with an interactive booth that goes beyond scientific dissemination. The space presents detailed information about voluntary blood and bone marrow donation, clarifies doubts, distributes educational materials, and offers a themed quiz that stimulates interaction with the public. The action also provides giveaways as incentives, transforming learning into a playful and motivating experience.
For social worker Camila Medina, Hemopa's presence at the meeting is strategic to bring the topic of donation closer to audiences that work directly in health and research areas. “We are here with the Hemopa booth, where we provide information about blood and bone marrow donation. We also conduct a fun quiz with participants that tests knowledge about these topics and offers many giveaways to donors,” she informed.

Biology student at the Federal Institute of Pará (IFPA), Luís Felipe Soares, reinforces the importance of the action to break barriers and expand awareness. “Participating in the Genetics Congress and, at the same time, seeing Hemopa present here is something very special. This mobilization is essential because the quiz with questions about donation clarifies doubts that many people still have about the criteria and the process. This brings the audience closer, reduces insecurities, and encourages not only blood donation but also bone marrow donation. It is an action that goes beyond the invitation to donate: it informs, raises awareness, and strengthens the culture of donation,” emphasized the student.
