The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), held a training focused on humanized care for vulnerable individuals who are victims of violence on August 13 and 14 in the municipality of Moju, northeastern Pará. The action was coordinated by the Directorate of Public Security Policies and Social Prevention (DPS) and brought together 50 professionals from different institutions at the City Council.

Focusing on the articulation between the agencies that act directly or indirectly in the social protection network, the training addressed strategies to improve listening, welcoming, and coordinated action with vulnerable groups, such as children, adolescents, women, and homeless individuals, among others.

Participants in the training included members of the Military Police, Civil Police, Military Fire Brigade, Scientific Police, Moju City Hall, City Council, municipal secretariats of Health, Education, and Security (Civil Guard), as well as the Guardianship Council, CRAS, and CREAS.

Humanized care as a security policy
During the two days of activities, participants discussed sensitive and welcoming approaches to assist victims in trauma situations, reinforcing the role of public security as a promoter of rights.

“Actions like today’s promote the extension of a learning process that starts here and benefits hundreds of vulnerable individuals. Caring for these people means acting directly on our wound and promoting their reintegration into society in a humane way,” stated Delegate Ariane Melo, head of the Directorate of Public Security Policies and Social Prevention at Segup.

Education and support network

The pedagogical advisor of the Municipal Education Secretariat of Moju (Semed), Carla Negrão, highlighted the importance of the training to strengthen the work of school teams in identifying cases of violence.

“The training was extremely important in the process of elucidating and understanding how to identify and care for this social segment. We leave here knowing who we can count on in case of need in these situations,” she added.

The training is part of a set of actions by Segup aimed at preventing violence and promoting a public security policy that is integrated and sensitive to the needs of the most vulnerable populations.
