The simultaneous action was carried out throughout Pará to ensure control and tranquility in the prison system during Pará's adherence to Independence

With the aim of reinforcing security protocols and ensuring effective control of penal units during the extended holiday of Pará's adherence to Independence, celebrated this Friday (15), the Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (Seap), carried out this morning the General Inspection operation in all 54 prison units in the state.

The action is part of Seap's strategic planning for commemorative dates and sensitive periods, where there is an increase in oversight and monitoring of penal facilities. The goal is to maintain order, prevent incidents, and ensure the safety of detainees and staff, with a direct impact on the well-being of the population.

Action concentrated in Santa Izabel

The start of the operation was concentrated at the Santa Izabel Penitentiary Complex, which includes 11 units, among them the General Penitentiary Hospital (HGP) and the Santa Izabel Semi-open Regime Resocialization Unit (URRS). The operation involved specialized teams such as the Penitentiary Action Group (GAP), Penitentiary Operations Command (COPE), Search and Recapture Group (GBR), Canine Operations Nucleus (NOC), and penal police assigned to the units.

The Penitentiary Administration Directorate (DAP), under the coordination of Colonel Odenir Margalho, led the work on-site, also promoting coordination with unit managers and evaluating the execution of operational protocols.

“One or another point that we correct to maintain the line of efficiency. And we believe that, in this sense, Seap's mission has been worked on and conducted with great effectiveness,” said Colonel Margalho.

Standardization and State presence

The operation was carried out simultaneously in units in the Metropolitan Region of Belém and in prison establishments in the interior of the state. Teams were distributed for thorough inspections in cells and blocks, focusing on identifying irregularities, reviewing routines, and standardizing conduct.

According to Margalho, evaluations in the units — both in Santa Izabel and in other municipalities — indicate adherence to the standards established by Seap.

“The goal is always to analyze the protocols, check if our operators are aligning exactly as per the orders issued by Seap, so that all necessary measures for maintaining prison security are established as a standard to be followed at all times,” pointed out the DAP director.
Positive evaluation of local management
The director of the URRS Santa Izabel, Wallace Pereira Silva, also positively evaluated the initiative, emphasizing that the effective presence of the State inhibits irregular conduct in the prison environment and strengthens the alignment between the management of the units and the central direction of Seap.

“The inspection is very positive, with no illicit material, nothing that brings concern to us. We aligned conduct, anticipated problems, and showed the inmates that the State is present,” highlighted the manager.
