The 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices started this Saturday (16) at the Hangar Convention and Exhibition Center in Belém, and already featured new releases at the booth of the Official Press of the State (IOE). During the opening, the Public Publisher Dalcídio Jurandir, from IOE, presented two launches: "Dores e Amores" by Ana Cláudia Ferreira, and the anthology "Contos e Poemas", resulting from the I New Writers Contest, promoted by the Ananindeua Academy of Letters (Alanin).

In "Dores e Amores", pedagogue Ana Cláudia Ferreira, 49, shares her journey of overcoming. After eight years of attempts and four unsuccessful in vitro fertilization processes, she achieved her dream of motherhood with the birth of her daughter Ana Maria, now 1 year and 2 months old.

"I wrote this book to encourage other women who face the same challenge. It is a story of pain, but also of hope and victory," said the author.

Meanwhile, "Contos e Poemas" brings together 37 texts selected in the literary contest by Alanin, held in 2023, which aimed to give space to new writers from the region. According to Paulo Roberto Ferreira, journalist, writer, and member of the Academy, the partnership with IOE strengthens the literary scene in Pará.

"Our goal was to open doors for talents from various areas and municipalities. The support from the Official Press has been essential for this production to reach the reading public," he emphasized.

Present Authorities

During the opening of the Fair, the IOE booth received a visit from the Vice Governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, who reinforced the importance of disseminating Amazonian literature.

"Valuing our writers is also valuing our cultural identity. The Public Publisher Dalcídio Jurandir has played a decisive role in this process," she stated.

Hana was welcomed by the president of IOE, Jorge Panzera, who handed over copies of the works "Chove nos Campos de Cachoeira" and "Transtempo", scheduled for release in the coming days.

Week Agenda

Created in August 2019 by decree of Governor Helder Barbalho, the Dalcídio Jurandir Publisher has established itself as an instrument for valuing Pará's literary production. In six years, nearly 200 titles have been published, including new authors and reissues of classics of Amazonian literature.

Until next Friday (22), 12 more works will be launched at the IOE booth. Among the highlights are the autobiographical novel "Transtempo" by Benedicto Monteiro, this Sunday (17) at 5 PM, with the presence of the writer's daughter, Wanda Monteiro, one of the honorees of the Fair; and on Tuesday (19) at 6 PM, the awaited relaunch of "Chove nos Campos de Cachoeira", the first volume of the Cycle of the Extreme North, by Dalcídio Jurandir.

"It will be a milestone for our Publisher and for the culture of Pará. This book has been out of print for many years, and being able to return it to the public, precisely in the year we celebrate six years of existence, is a great joy," concluded Jorge Panzera, president of IOE.
