Among the diverse and vibrant programming of the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices, a special space caught the attention of those passing by the booth of the State Department of Education (Seduc) this Monday (18): the technological workshops, which sparked the interest and curiosity of participants of all ages.

The activities were presented by educators and students from the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb) and from school units that already work with resources involving robotics and artificial intelligence. They shared knowledge and enthusiasm with the audience in a dynamic and accessible way.

Among them was the Magalhães Barata State School, from the municipality of Santa Izabel do Pará, which presented the robotics project developed at the school, aimed at enhancing skills in robotics, mathematics, language, programming, and technologies. The space was led by teachers Aldecy Silva, from Sociology, and David Tinoco, from Mathematics.

“We are here precisely to bring the students and show a little of what the school has developed through the robotics project, which has the support of the State Government, through Prodep, from which we were able to acquire LEGO kits, a competition table, and the specific mat for the activities. And the project has undoubtedly been a differential in the school. We have observed an improvement in students' interest and performance in the classroom. Without a doubt, the project has brought significant results for education in our state and, especially, for education in Santa Izabel do Pará,” says Aldecy Silva, Sociology teacher.

In the Ecological Arcade Workshop - Games with AI, participants had the opportunity to learn about game programming with artificial intelligence focused on environmental themes. With the guidance of a specialized monitor, they explored, in practice, the importance of collaboration and logical reasoning.

Anderson Castilho, workshop participant

“I found the workshop very educational and intuitive. With what I learned today, I believe I will be able to enhance my knowledge and even develop ideas, like an application that facilitates ticket purchases for people with disabilities. I thought of this because I relate to an autistic person, and we have always had difficulties since the purchase could only be made in person. This workshop opened up possibilities for me to turn this idea into something real. I have always liked the area of technology and programming, and participating in all of this greatly expanded my vision and professional interest. And it was super fun,” says Anderson Castilho, workshop participant.

In addition to enriching the event with a dynamic and current activity, the technological workshops also reinforced the role of technological education in the development of new generations. After all, more than just assembling machines, participants learned to think critically, creatively, and innovatively.

Tarcila Bertonssin, student at Barão do Rio Branco State School

For Tarcila Bertonssin, a 5th-grade student at Barão do Rio Branco State School, the programming was very interesting to participate in and follow the other works. “It was really cool to participate in the Fair. I presented about Pará slang in English, going through various places in Belém. I saw the other works and found them super interesting, especially the robotics one,” said the student.

The Patrimoniar - Cultural Sustainability project, which combines the exploration of the historic center of Belém, the capital of Pará, with the use of a 360º camera for recording and analyzing the location, was also part of the programming.

The 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices is promoted by the State Government, organized by the State Department of Culture (Secult), and can be visited until the 22nd.
