The Government of Pará continues the XIV edition of the Open Games of Pará (Joapa) with the realization of the seventh regional stage of the event, which takes place from this Thursday (21) until next Sunday (24), in the municipality of Vitória do Xingu. The competition is promoted by the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel) and is part of the state sports calendar as one of the main actions to promote amateur sports.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 7 PM, at the José Caetano Sports Gym, located on Francisca Abreu de Freitas Street, in the Alegria neighborhood.

The Xingu/Tapajós regional stage brings together 486 athletes from the municipalities of Altamira, Placas, Senador José Porfírio, Uruará, and Vitória do Xingu. Participants compete in six modalities: basketball, futsal, beach soccer, handball, volleyball, and table tennis.

Before the start of the competitions, a Technical Congress was held at 4 PM this Thursday (21), in the auditorium of the Secretary of Education, with the participation of delegation leaders and refereeing teams, under the technical coordination of Seel.

Integration and appreciation of sports

The head of Seel, Cássio Andrade, highlighted the strategic role of the Open Games in strengthening amateur sports in Pará. “Another stage of the Open Games, an event that brings together 144 municipalities. The event is very important for integration, culture, and the promotion of state amateur sports. We are happy for this very important moment for the development of amateur sports throughout Pará,” said the secretary.

According to Cássio Andrade, the Joapa is a platform that promotes not only sports practice but also leisure and the appreciation of local talents.
“The Joapa is the largest competition of amateur sports in our state and represents an opportunity for integration, leisure, and appreciation of local talents. I wish everyone an excellent participation and, above all, to have fun and enjoy the Joapa,” he added.
