The Government of the State of Pará has been continuously strengthening the performance of the Specialized Policing Command (CPE) of the Military Police of Pará (PMPA), expanding the presence and efficiency of battalions focused on security in strategic areas, such as tourist zones, large events, state highways, school areas, and rural areas. The initiative aims to ensure a more preventive, humanized, and effective approach, directly contributing to the reduction of crime and the protection of the population of Pará.

Among the specialized units, the Independent Special Police Assistance Company (CIEPAS) stands out, which provides technical and humanized assistance to people in vulnerable situations and whose fundamental rights are threatened or violated. “Among the priority areas, assistance to women victims of domestic and family violence, children and adolescents at risk or in conflict with the law, elderly people, the homeless population, and other groups requiring a differentiated approach are highlighted,” explained Major Erica Batista from CIEPAS.

In addition to direct assistance, the company also trains military police officers to act as multipliers of assistance policing and operational consultants in high-complexity situations.

Military police officers who join specialized units undergo complementary and ongoing training, focusing on techniques for humanized approaches and conflict mediation; integrated protocols with protection networks; specific legislation and public policies for vulnerable groups; and training for action in scenarios of high social and emotional complexity.

“This specialization results in more qualified, preventive, and effective responses, with a lower potential for re-victimization and greater strengthening of community trust,” adds Major Erica Batista.

The Event Police Battalion (BPE) operates to ensure public order at events with large gatherings of people in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, such as football games, concerts, and religious celebrations.

Based on human rights and the proportional use of force, the BPE plans and executes visible policing at these events. To join the unit, police officers undergo specific training, such as the Police Operations Course for Large Events (COPGE).

The Tourist Police Battalion (BPTur) has the mission of ensuring safety and welcoming visitors at tourist spots in the capital, such as the Ver-o-Peso Market, Estação das Docas, Icoaraci Waterfront, and Belém Airport.

The unit's actions, with preventive patrols and tourist-oriented approaches, strengthen Pará's image as a safe and welcoming destination, contributing to the appreciation of regional tourism.

The Highway Police Battalion (BPRv) consists of about 200 specialized police officers, strategically distributed in municipalities with high road traffic. The unit focuses on traffic enforcement, driver education, and support for road engineering. “We are using resources provided by Detran for electronic traffic enforcement. We have acquired electronic ticket books, body cams, and breathalyzers, in addition to implementing a sectoral kennel with dogs trained to combat drug trafficking,” highlighted the commander of BPRv, Lieutenant Colonel Glauco Mourão.

All police officers in the unit have specific certifications, such as Traffic Authority Agent, Traffic Education Multiplier, and Traffic Management.
Focusing on the protection of students, teachers, and education professionals, the School Police Battalion (BPOE) operates in state and municipal schools, promoting preventive patrolling and educational actions.

The unit contributes to building a safer school environment, reducing conflicts and promoting well-being in school communities.

The Rural Police Battalion (BPR) is responsible for ensuring safety in rural areas, which are often more vulnerable to crimes such as invasions, thefts, and robberies. The unit also promotes training courses for police officers to operate in the field, focusing on specific techniques, crime prevention, and the use of technologies such as georeferencing.

The Guard Police Battalion (BPGuarda) operates in the security of public agencies, strategic facilities, and collections of historical, cultural, and tourist value. The mission of the unit is to ensure the integrity of institutions and maintain order in spaces that play a fundamental role for the State and society.
