About R$ 12 million in business and book sales were generated at the booths of the main hall of the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices, during the seven days of the event, promoted by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult). More than 2,000 jobs, direct and indirect, were created from the setup period to the dismantling of the entire structure.

Wagner Alonso - Solar do Leitor

The exhibitor Wagner Alonso, from the ‘Solar do Leitor’ booth, celebrates that the financial goal set for the Fair by the bookstore was reached already on Wednesday (20), with only five days of the event. Besides being a meeting point with old readers, the entrepreneur states that it is a moment to attract new audiences and increase the visibility of the bookstore.

“We occupy a very peculiar space here at the Book Fair, we arranged the shelf as if it were a bookstore, with various titles, from the fields of humanities, anthropology, social sciences, arts, linguistics, and literature, and because of this profile, we end up finding a very specific audience that returns to the booth every year, which is very gratifying. The Fair is a heritage of the cultural market and deserves all the investments,” points out Wagner.

Bernardo Gurbanov, institutional director of the National Association of Bookstores (ANL)

The institutional director of the National Association of Bookstores (ANL), Bernardo Gurbanov, highlights the contribution of the event to energize the local economy. “We estimate about 12 million reais generated from direct sales to the public, book purchases, and business between companies in this edition. We continue to fulfill our mission, which is to stimulate reading and the consumption of physical books throughout the country. It is a spectacle to witness the movement of children and families in this space, which has an imposing structure promoted by the State,” he emphasizes.

Thay Petit - illustrator

The Creative Fair spaces, Artist Alley, and food court are also fronts of financial movement at this year's Book Fair and Multivoices. Illustrator Thay Petit, who participates for the third year in the Artist Alley, celebrates the revenue in this edition.

“Being part of the Fair as an independent artist is always an incredible experience because, in addition to the financial return, we gain a lot of visibility for our authorial production. My products are inspired by Amazonian daily life applied to objects we use every day, making this connection and highlighting the protagonism of black women,” she concludes.

Fair - The 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices, held at the Hangar Convention & Fair Center in Belém, ends this Friday (22). In this edition, the Fair features 189 book booths, occupying the entire Events Pavilion, in addition to nine food booths. The event brings together around 400 publishers, directly or through representation. There will be 120 companies, including 32 publishers, 40 bookstores, and 48 distributors — 70 of them from Pará.
