On the morning of this Friday (22), Governor Helder Barbalho conducted a technical inspection of the Avenida Liberdade works. The visit was attended by the First Lady Daniela Barbalho; the mayor of Marituba, Patrícia Alencar; as well as various state and municipal authorities and representatives of local communities, who closely followed the progress of one of the largest investments in urban mobility in the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB).

The work is progressing in several stages, such as the paving of 2.5 kilometers, in addition to earthworks, base, sub-base, and asphalting services. The construction of two bridges and four viaducts is also underway, which will facilitate the crossing of communities such as Abacatal, Navegantes, and Ceasa.

According to Governor Helder Barbalho, Avenida Liberdade will transform mobility in RMB, offering a strategic alternative to BR-316.

“We are reaching 70% of the works completed, already in the paving phase of this important road, which will connect Marituba, Ananindeua, and Belém. With a length of 14 km, viaducts, bridges, and bike lanes, the new avenue will save the population time, allowing the journey between Alça Viária and the Perimetral of UFPA to be made in just 10 minutes. It is a great solution for mobility and quality of life for the entire region,” highlighted the governor.

34 wildlife crossings have also been designed, ensuring the safe movement of wildlife and the preservation of the local ecosystem. With a length of 14 kilometers, the new expressway has been generating over 700 direct jobs.

The Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Adler Silveira, reinforced the strategic nature of the work: “Avenida Liberdade is a watershed for mobility in the Metropolitan Region. It is a modern road, designed to ensure traffic flow, reduce travel time, and provide more safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. In addition to being an investment in quality of life, the work represents job and income generation for hundreds of families and strengthens the economic development of the region. It is a strategic project that integrates technology, sustainability, and modernity, preparing our capital and neighboring municipalities for the future,” said the secretary.

Modernity and sustainability – The project provides for lanes with three lanes in each direction, bike lanes on both sides of the highway, 2.5-meter shoulders, LED lighting with solar energy, and ecological pavement for the bike lane. These features reinforce the commitment of the Government of Pará to sustainable and innovative infrastructure.

Avenida Liberdade will be a strategic link between the Alça Viária and the Perimetral Avenue, near the Federal University of Pará, directly benefiting Belém, Ananindeua, and Marituba, in addition to facilitating access to the south of the state, to the Port of Vila do Conde, and to Baixo Tocantins.

With visible progress and works at an accelerated pace, the expectation is that the new highway will establish itself as a landmark for mobility, modernity, and sustainable development in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.
