Second stage of the restoration of the Soledade Cemetery Park will be delivered this Saturday (30)
The program is part of the celebrations of the Month of Cultural Heritage, promoted by Iphan

The second stage of the restoration of the Soledade Cemetery Park will be delivered this Saturday (30), in Belém, as part of the Month of Cultural Heritage program. Managed by the State Department of Culture (Secult), Soledade is one of the main historical and architectural landmarks of the capital of Pará and is undergoing a comprehensive conservation and requalification process initiated by the Government of Pará.
The activities will take place from 8 am to 12 pm. The delivery will include a public class with Professor Michel Pinho, educational workshops with the team from the Conservation and Restoration Laboratory (Lacore/UFPA), a musical performance by the Quinteto Caxangá, and a Creative Fair, which will operate throughout the morning. Registration for the activities is free and is already open here.
In this second phase, 150 graves, mausoleums, and remnants of two brotherhoods were restored, in addition to the chapel's portico. Preventive conservation measures were also carried out on the other structures. The execution is by the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), with resources from the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan). The investment is R$ 7 million.
Soledade is the first Cemetery Park in Pará
The first stage, completed in January 2023, was executed by the Government of Pará, through Secult, with an investment of R$ 16 million. The works ensured the recovery of 126 funerary structures, improvements in electrical and hydraulic systems, construction of accessible pavements, bathrooms, administrative area, lighting, landscaping, and the opening of a new entrance.
That year, the Nossa Senhora da Soledade Cemetery was delivered to the public as the Soledade Cemetery Park, the first museum cemetery in Pará, hosting actions for heritage education, guided tours, and exhibitions.

Visit to the vessel found at Doca also integrates Iphan's program
In addition to the delivery of the second stage of the Soledade restoration, another highlight of the Month of Cultural Heritage program promoted by Iphan in Belém is the guided visit to the vessel found during the works of the Doca Linear Park. The activity, which takes place on Friday (29), will be conducted by specialists in archaeology and restoration, starting at 3 pm.
The official opening of the Brazilian Cultural Heritage Week will also take place on Friday, at 8:30 am, at Sesc Ver-o-Peso. Immediately after, at 9 am, a round table will be held on “The City of COP 30 and Cultural Heritage: what, how, and for whom?”.
