Reference in oncology, HRBA promotes workshop to maintain excellence in patient care
Professionals and residents of the unit participate in an event that addresses important issues for oncological treatment in western Pará
Certified by the Ministry of Health as a High Complexity Oncology Assistance Unit (Unacon), the Dr. Waldemar Penna Regional Hospital of Lower Amazon (HRBA), located in Santarém, offers comprehensive care, with general, specialized, and integral assistance to cancer patients, acting in diagnosis and treatment. To maintain the excellence of care for users, employees, and residents of the unit participated, this Monday (25), in an Oncology Workshop aimed at the multiprofessional team that deals with oncology patients daily.
The event was held in the hospital auditorium and addressed topics such as "the role of nutrition in caring for oncology patients", "legal criteria related to patient records", "the role of psychology in inpatient units", "chemotherapy administration" and "chemotherapy protocols and toxicities related to chemotherapeutics", among others.
Oncologist Dr. Kamila Silva was one of the speakers at the workshop and emphasized the importance of this moment for professionals, always focusing on patient care. "It’s something we deal with every day, but when we promote a workshop like this, we have a moment to clarify all doubts. So, this is very important for the entire team in general."
Education - Nurse Teresa Vitória Costa is a resident in Oncology and Cancer Care at HRBA and participated in the workshop. She is in her second year of the course and approved of all the guidance she received during the program.
"It was a multiprofessional workshop. We had a nutritionist, psychologist, and doctor to bring knowledge and updates for all of us. It was very beneficial. We were able to clarify several doubts and we definitely left with much more information from here," she celebrated.
Excellence - The Santarém Regional Hospital is a reference in oncology for a population of 1.4 million people residing in 29 municipalities in western Pará. The unit offers consultations, surgeries, and sessions of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and brachytherapy, in addition to exams such as mammography, ultrasound, colonoscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging, which are important during the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Those who receive assistance from professionals daily highlight the excellence in care. This is the case of hairdresser Ádria Pinto, 33 years old. She discovered in a routine exam that she needed to start treatment and, in April of this year, began to be treated at HRBA.
"It wasn’t difficult, I was referred here in April and everything was very quick. I had my CT scans, consultations, and also started chemotherapy sessions. All the professionals are very loving, caring, and polite. I feel very well, I was very well received and I believe that no one here has anything to complain about. My hair started to fall out and I had to cut it myself. But I told people not to be sad. Hair grows back. The important thing is that I am well and I want to be cured," said the patient.
"We always work to offer the best care to our users. And these trainings are essential for our professionals to be increasingly updated and prepared to provide excellent assistance. We are recognized as an oncology unit and we always want to treat our patients with the best techniques, processes, protocols, and, above all, with a humanized service," concluded the general director of HRBA, Matheus Coutinho.
