Antônio Lemos River Base seizes over 100 kilograms of drugs in Marajó
Integrated inspection by Segup intercepted drugs being transported on a vessel traveling from Manaus to Belém

On the afternoon of this Tuesday (26), an integrated action by the Antônio Lemos River Base, linked to the State Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), resulted in the seizure of 100 bricks of skunk, totaling 109.9 kilograms. The drug was being transported on the vessel F/B Anna Karoline VII, which was traveling from Manaus (AM) to Belém.
The inspection occurred during an approach to the vessel while it was navigating the Tajapuru River, in front of the Antônio Lemos district, rural area of Breves, in the Marajó Archipelago. The sniffer dog “Bleck,” from the Canine Action Battalion (BAC) of the Military Police, indicated the presence of drugs in the vessel's hold.

The police team located cardboard boxes containing four water dispensers, where the drug bricks were hidden. All the illegal material was removed and taken to the River Base for the necessary procedures. It will then be forwarded to the Breves Police Station, from where it will go for forensic examination.
Reinforced security in Marajó
The State Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado, emphasized that the operation reaffirms the importance of permanent inspection in combating drug trafficking.

“The seizure of over 100 kilograms of drugs today by the Antônio Lemos River Base clearly demonstrates its effectiveness, which has been confirmed day after day in combating crime and ensuring public safety in the Marajó region, which is a route to other areas of the State. From seizure to seizure, in daily inspections, we dismantle trafficking and combat other crimes linked to it. The significant result is the fruit of strategic investment in inspection and the dedication of our agents, who work tirelessly to protect society,” said the head of Segup.
Investigations are ongoing to identify and hold accountable those involved in sending and receiving the cargo.
