Department of Transit of Pará (Detran) promotes training for taxi drivers in Castanhal
Initiative focuses on improving individual passenger transport services and updates professionals on legislation and safe practices

The State Department of Transit (Detran) has started in Castanhal, in the northeastern state, another Training Course for Taxi Drivers in the city. The training takes place in partnership with the City Hall of Castanhal, through the Municipal Secretary of Transport and Transit (Semutran). The objective is to improve the quality of individual passenger transport services and update professionals on traffic legislation and safe practices in passenger transport.
The classes began on Tuesday, the 26th, in the Semutran auditorium, and will continue until this Friday (29th). A total of 61 professionals who already work in the sector are participating. Promoted by the Traffic Education Coordination of Detran, the training course is a mandatory requirement for the exercise of the taxi driver profession, offering participants an immersion in ethics and traffic legislation, as well as practical vehicle training and guidance on passenger safety.

“The training provides essential knowledge and skills for the daily life of the profession, not only to update the category on changes in legislation but also to reinforce everyone's commitment to traffic education and safety in transporting people,” explains Jomaine Marinho, manager of Detran's Public Traffic School.
For those who already work in the area, the update every five years is also mandatory, as established by Resolution No. 410 of the National Traffic Council (Contran), ensuring that everyone is always updated with the new traffic guidelines.

The training aims to provide taxi drivers with a deepening of essential knowledge, including traffic laws, safety protocols, citizen service techniques, and best practices behind the wheel.
Maria dos Remédios, secretary of Semutran in Castanhal, emphasized the strategic importance of the course for the municipality. "The course aimed at taxi drivers is of great importance for the municipality of Castanhal, as it directly contributes to improving the quality of transport services offered to the population and visitors. It provides professionals with updates on essential topics such as traffic legislation, safety, public service, and good practices in driving. The initiative represents a significant advancement in the qualification of these individual passenger transport professionals," she assesses.
The president of the Association of Small Transport Drivers (Ascotranpp) of Castanhal, Robson Sousa, reinforced the relevance of this training. "The importance of this course lies in offering updates and training for taxi drivers, directly contributing to the quality of service provided to the population," he declared. For professionals, it also represents an opportunity for growth, to stay informed about changes in legislation, and to improve their relationship with users," he adds.
