Citizenship action brings services and environmental education to the community of the Algodoal-Maiandeua Environmental Protection Area in Maracanã
The program aimed to bring public services closer to the local population, ensuring access to basic rights and promoting citizenship; the action was well received by the entire community.

On August 27 and 28, the community of the Algodoal-Maiandeua Environmental Protection Area (APA), in Maracanã, northeastern Pará, received a large citizenship action promoted in partnership with various institutions. The program involved the direct participation of the Institute for Forest Development and Biodiversity (Ideflor-Bio), the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Pará (MPPA), the Court of Justice of Pará (TJPA), the Civil Police, the Military Police, and the Municipal Secretary of the Environment of Maracanã.
With the aim of bringing public services closer to the local population, ensuring access to basic rights and promoting citizenship, the action was well received by the entire community. For resident Maria das Graças Silva, who was assisted during the two days of programming, she highlighted the importance of access to services. "We don't always have the means to go to the city to resolve everything, and here we were able to get medical care, obtain documents, and even learn how to better manage our waste. This makes a big difference for us," she reported.
Services - Among the services provided were medical, nutritional, and psychological consultations, as well as services such as registration and updating of CadÚnico, issuance of documents (ID, TEA card, and free pass), haircuts, manicures, and discussion circles. The program also included guidance on Bolsa Família, rights of women and people with disabilities, as well as environmental education activities.

In this regard, Ideflor-Bio, in partnership with the Municipal Secretary of the Environment of Maracanã, held lectures and workshops with children and young people on selective collection, recycling, and proper waste disposal. The work aimed to raise community awareness about the importance of waste separation and the environmental impacts of poor waste management, encouraging sustainable practices from an early age.
Cooperation - The program was initiated by the Public Prosecutor of Maracanã, Brenda Braga, and also had the presence of the district judge, Lucas Quintanilha Furlan, and the manager of the Administrative Region of Northeast Pará of Ideflor-Bio, Raimunda Araújo.
Brenda Braga emphasized the integrative nature of the initiative and reinforced the role of institutional partnerships in bringing quality services to the traditional populations of the Algodoal-Maiandeua APA, combining citizenship, social justice, and environmental conservation in the territory. "Our commitment is to bring institutions closer to the population and ensure that fundamental rights reach the communities. This action shows that when we join forces, we can bring citizenship, dignity, and opportunities to those who need it most," she stated.
Meanwhile, the manager of the Administrative Region of Northeast Pará of Ideflor-Bio, Raimunda Araújo, highlighted the relevance of the environmental dimension. "In addition to essential services, we brought the discussion about selective collection and waste management, especially with children, who are multipliers within their families. Educating today means ensuring more conscious and responsible citizens in the future," she said.
