The State Government is modernizing the port infrastructure in the Marajó Integration Region, with the completion of the works of the Cargo and Passenger Waterway Terminals in the municipalities of Oeiras do Pará and Chaves. The new structures will benefit over 50,000 residents of the two Marajoara cities.

Built in strategic locations by the Pará Ports and Waterways Company (CPH), the two ports will enhance the river transport for the inhabitants and the flow of products produced in the municipalities.

"Each port delivered is more than just a completed project; it is a real improvement in people's lives. Our commitment is to continue working hard, respecting each community and bringing more dignity to the Marajoara people," pointed out Hilton Aguiar, president of the State Ports and Waterways Company (CPH).

Structures have hydraulic, energy, and rainwater systems
In the final phase of construction, the Terminal of Oeiras do Pará has its entire structural part completed. The ceramic flooring has already been installed. The side railing has been carved, and the installation of bathroom fixtures, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and rainwater systems is currently underway.

The floating dock for anchoring vessels has been placed at the terminal and will also feature a covered metal access ramp for the safety of the population using it. "We know that in Marajó, many people depend on the river for everything — to study, work, and take care of their health. That’s why we are building safe ports, with quality structures that ensure comfort, accessibility, and help in the flow of local production," reinforced president Hilton Aguiar.

The space will have boarding and disembarking areas, ticket sales counters, a court, luggage storage, bathrooms, shops, restaurants, decks, and spaces for cultural events.

More mobility in Marajó
The port of Chaves has completed the foundation stages, reinforced concrete walkway, recovery of structural elements, masonry, coatings, metal roofing with the installation of the terminal roof, and ceiling installation.

Additionally, services such as plastering and painting, driving in the defense piles for the metal ramps, and completing the electrical installations have been carried out.

The new public facilities will feature passenger and cargo boarding and disembarking areas - with a covered walkway, ramp, and floating dock, ticket counters, snack bar, male and female bathrooms - and PWD facilities and public safety offices.

New infrastructure
Since 2019, the state government has been investing in the construction and reconstruction of Passenger and Cargo Waterway Terminals (TH) throughout Pará and has delivered 28 ports and docks. In the Marajó Integration Region, 11 THs have been delivered, and four are under construction: Chaves, Oeiras do Pará, Breves, and Salvaterra.

In the Marajoara archipelago, the population of the municipalities of Curralinho, Ponta de Pedras, Santa Cruz do Arari, Cachoeira do Arari, Portel, Muaná, Melgaço, Anajás, Soure, Bagre, and Afuá already have modern structures for the boarding and disembarking of passengers. Breves and Salvaterra also have ongoing works.

The reconstruction and construction of terminals in the Marajoara region ensure greater accessibility and safety for users. The investment by the State Government in structural interventions ensures modern equipment for the movement of people, cargo transport, and the flow of production, contributing to tourism, commerce, and services.
