Regional Hospital of Marajó conducts educational action in homage to 'D Day' of Dialysis
Users and companions received guidance on access care, control of fluid intake, and adoption of healthy eating practices
Reference in medium and high complexity assistance, with emphasis on the specialty in Nephrology and offering of renal replacement therapy, the Public Regional Hospital of Marajó (HRPM), in Breves, held last Thursday (28) an educational action aimed at users and companions of the outpatient hemodialysis sector.
The activity provided guidance on access care, control of fluid intake, and adoption of healthy eating. The conduction was carried out by the nursing team of the sector, in partnership with the Nutrition and Dietetics Service (SND) of the unit.

“It was an action held in homage to 'D Day' of Dialysis. We addressed the importance of treatment and care for patients with chronic kidney disease,” informed the technical responsible nutritionist for the SND, Renata Feio.
She explained that nutrition plays a fundamental role in improving the quality of life of renal patients. “The theme was approached in a playful way with users and companions about interdialytic weight control. In addition, we reinforced the control of fluid intake, so that everyone is aware of the problems that excess water can cause,” she added.

Approval - Benedita da Silva, 30 years old, evaluated the educational activity as very important because the Hemodialysis Service of HRPM saves lives. “We are receiving really very good treatment. Here we have the commitment of those who work day and night for the well-being of patients. They treat everyone well,” said Benedita, a resident of the municipality of Portel.
She added that the action is a reinforcement for companions to perform their work in the best way, learning and applying the correct care, in addition to emphasizing the importance of collaboration between health professionals and companions.
For Jurandir Barbosa, 61 years old, the initiative was enlightening, as he was not clear on how to perform catheter hygiene. “I learned how to eat better, about the catheter, its cleaning. Many good things for us to learn,” said the user, adding that without the Hospital it would be much more difficult to deal with health problems, such as renal ones.
From January to July of this year, the Hemodialysis Sector of HRPM recorded 3,597 attendances.
