Each donation can benefit up to four patients in hospitals in Pará

The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa) held a blood donation campaign on this Monday (1st), in partnership with the State Technical School EEEMPI Professor Francisco da Silva Nunes, located in the Marambaia neighborhood of Belém.

The action included the setup of a room specially structured to receive volunteers, ensuring comfort and safety during the collection process. The initiative aims to bring the school community closer to the cause of blood donation and reinforce the Foundation's stocks.

According to Nazaré Saldanha, social worker at Gecad/Hemopa, the goal was to collect at least 100 bags

According to the social worker of the Donor Recruitment Management (Gecad) at Hemopa, Nazaré Saldanha, this is the second edition of the campaign at the school, which has nursing training among its main courses. “Our goal is to collect at least 100 bags. In addition to contributing to the stocks, the campaign awakens in students a sense of social responsibility and brings the future professional closer to the field of hemotherapy and hematology,” she highlighted.

For teacher and nurse Larissa Borges, the initiative is also important for the students' educational process

The coordinator of the health courses at the school, teacher and nurse Larissa Borges, emphasized the importance of the initiative in the educational process. “Blood donation involves values such as empathy, solidarity, citizenship, and patient safety. In the first campaign, nearly 100 people participated, which positively surprised us. Now, our expectation is to surpass this result,” she stated.

Donor Cilene Gomes participated in the action accompanied by her daughter and highlighted the emotion of contributing. “I brought my daughter to donate for the first time and took the opportunity to donate together because I believe that example is the best way to inspire. Donating blood is a simple gesture, but it can save lives,” she said.

Donor Cilene Gomes was moved by the opportunity to contribute to others

Service - Hemopa emphasizes that each bag of blood collected can benefit up to four patients, reinforcing the importance of society's participation in regular donation actions. Those interested in donating can go to the Hemopa headquarters, located at Avenida Serzedelo Corrêa, corner with Rua dos Caripunas, in the Batista Campos neighborhood, or to one of the external collection units. To donate, one must be in good health, be between 16 and 69 years old, weigh more than 50 kilograms, and present an official photo ID.
