Blood donations grow 6% in Pará and strengthen Hemopa's actions throughout the State
In August alone, Hemopa collected 9,139 bags, which will benefit up to 36,504 transfusions across the State of Pará

The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa) has maintained a steady growth in blood donations. In August 2025, 9,139 bags were collected, compared to 8,653 in the same month of 2024, representing an increase of approximately 6%. The volume will be sufficient to benefit up to 36,504 transfusions across the State of Pará.
The blood network in Pará is formed by regional blood centers and hemotherapy nuclei installed in strategic municipalities, ensuring service to the population in various regions. In addition, Hemopa conducts external campaigns in cities that do not yet have a hemotherapy nucleus or blood center, expanding the population's access to voluntary blood donation and strengthening the decentralization of services.

The president of the Hemopa Foundation, Paulo Bezerra, highlighted the relevance of the result. “The Hemopa Foundation has maintained a steady growth in donations. In August, we recorded a 6% increase compared to 2024. External campaigns and expansion to new municipalities have ensured positive results and show that the culture of solidarity is increasingly present in the population.”

According to the donor recruitment manager, Juciara Farias, the growth is the result of constant planning. “Donor recruitment follows a daily planning of internal and external campaigns, always focusing on health education and social mobilization. We work with lectures, workshops, and partnerships that help awaken solidarity and organize caravans for collections. Interested institutions can contact us at 0800-280-8118 or via email at [email protected] to establish partnerships,” she explains.

Among the partnerships that contributed to the result, the Federal Institute of Pará (IFPA) stood out for the involvement of the academic community. Daniel Gomes, head of Health at IFPA, emphasized: “Having Hemopa here is extraordinary. Our community of students and staff is actively participating, and even family members and people from the external community came to donate. It is gratifying to contribute to the blood bank and know that this gesture will benefit the entire society.”
The participation of new donors also strengthens the blood network. Gabriela Lima, a first-time donor, shared her experience: “Donating for the first time is an enormous emotion. I have always known the importance of this gesture, but experiencing it is special. I feel that I am helping people in need and I intend to continue donating and encouraging others to do the same.”
