Detran makes statistical yearbook available on vehicle fleet in Pará
Open for online consultation, the platform provides detailed statistics on vehicles in the state

The State Traffic Department (Detran) has made detailed data available on its official portal regarding the registered vehicle fleet in the State. The information covers the period from 2000 to 2025 and can be consulted in the form of maps, graphs, and tables, facilitating access for citizens, public managers, researchers, and media professionals.
The data provides a detailed and current overview of the vehicle fleet situation in the State, including the licensed and unlicensed fleet from 2009 to 2025, as well as the evolution of the overall registered fleet in the State, segmented by vehicle type. The tool offers a historical and updated view, allowing analysis and comparison between different periods. It is possible to consult the raw numbers and percentages of compliant and non-compliant vehicles by municipality and region interactively.
According to Detran, the initiative is aligned with Brazil's international commitment to reduce deaths and serious injuries in traffic by 50% by 2030, a goal established by the UN in Resolution A/RES/74/299 and integrated into the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this context, Detran-PA, in alignment with the National Traffic Policy (Contran Resolution No. 514/2014), presents in this panel a strategic initiative: the Integration Process of Multiple Databases to qualify information about fatal victims in traffic accidents in the State.
Furthermore, the preparation of the Statistical Bulletin aligns with the Access to Information Law (LAI), in Normative Instruction SLTI No. 04, of April 13, 2012, which establishes the National Open Data Infrastructure, in addition to other regulations on data publication.
The project, carried out in collaboration with the 144 municipalities that make up Pará, allowed for the consolidation of vital information. As one of the main results, a precise database of the registered fleet was structured, fundamental for the analysis and planning of road safety actions.
In addition to the fleet updated until August of this year, summarized statistics by vehicle type are already available, with information on fuel used, predominant colors, and nationality of the vehicles. The system is continuously updated, 24 hours a day, and is expected to be expanded soon, also including data on drivers, violations, and traffic accidents.

The work was developed by the statistics and information technology teams of Detran. “The tool can be accessed directly through the Detran website (www.detran.pa.gov.br) and represents another step towards transparency and democratization of access to public information,” explains the statistics manager of Detran, Kléber Salim.
The traffic analyst at Detran and one of the system developers, Mário Diego Valente, explains that, for the first time, a Detran in Brazil has developed a traffic data platform in the format of a statistical yearbook using free software. “The analysis presents a summary for those who want to understand the general data on the growth of the overall fleet, by year and the predominant vehicles. There is also a detailed analysis that allows understanding the behavior of this fleet and the impact it brings to each municipality. It is a truly broad base for defining public policies,” he explains.
According to Salim, other statistical data are being worked on by the team and will also be available for real-time consultation in the future, including violations, accidents, and drivers, as well as technical reports.
“These statistical data provide a real-time information base that should be used by traffic authorities in general, especially municipalities, so that, with the information in hand, they can see the fleet situation, accidents, and violations in their city and create strategies to improve mobility and preserve lives in traffic,” he emphasizes. To consult the data, just access the Detran website, at the “Statistics” link.
