In Salvaterra, Emater guarantees Legal Family Agriculture Registration for cooperatives
Document, delivered by the Government of Pará, facilitates access to public policies aimed at rural producers' associations

Three cooperatives of family farmers from Salvaterra, in the Marajó Archipelago, were benefited with the National Legal Family Agriculture Registration (CAF Jurídico) this weekend. The delivery was made by the Government of Pará, through the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater-Pará).
The delivery event took place at the headquarters of the Family Agriculture Cooperative of Marajó (Coopafam) and also benefited the Agricultural and Artisanal Fishing Cooperative of Monsarás (Coopapam) and the Cooperative of Family Farmers of Salvaterra (CAFAS).

The Legal CAF contributes to associations and cooperatives for greater income generation within family agriculture. With the documentation, it is possible to identify the farmers who are part of a specific production area and, consequently, gain access to public policies aimed at rural activities.
“This day is very important for our culture, our cooperatives, and our cooperative as a whole. Previously, this document was something distant for us, but with the partnership with Emater, it is a true victory for us. We feel happy because we can say that we are recognized as family farmers. We can say that we have a place that is ours,” said Izabel Janaú, president of Cafas.

Izabel shares that the cooperative started with a dream of young pineapple farmers and gradually, with the support of the Government of Pará, through Emater, they have gained more space in the market, income, basic documentation, and guaranteed access to public policies. "Emater helped and continues to help us in this process. We received support in issuing the CAF for our cooperatives, the Legal CAF for our cooperative, among other things. And Emater was fundamental in all these stages, participating in courses they offered. Today we have our agro-industry, from which we derive our income, and the farmers' children are working as young apprentices,” said Janaú.
At CAFAS, production is focused on making pulp from pineapple, acerola, muruci, guava, taperebá, and also on horticulture, increasingly expanding the market for family farmers who are members of the cooperative.

“This legal CAF that we delivered is the result of immense work we have in the field. We delivered it to three cooperatives, and they will be able to access public policies collectively for all cooperatives,” concluded Orlando Lameira, head of the Local Office of Salvaterra.
