Artran strengthens inspections at ports and terminals during Independence Day holiday
The goal of the Government of Pará is to ensure smooth travels and curb irregularities in intermunicipal passenger transport

The State Government, through the Regulatory Agency for Public Transport Services (Artran), intensified inspections of intermunicipal trips on the first weekend of September, marked by the holiday of Brazil's Independence Day, this Sunday (7). The special operation takes place both on roads and rivers, aiming to ensure safe travels for the people of Pará during the extended holiday.
In road transport, teams were deployed to areas with the highest passenger flow, such as the Northeast Region of the State, beach resorts, and the bus terminals in Belém and Castanhal. The highways PA-140, BR-316, and the Alça Viária also receive reinforcement from the inspection teams.

“In celebration of the Week of the Homeland, which is a significant period in the Brazilian calendar and, this year, in 2025, falls on a Sunday, our teams have been sent to strategic points. We have 42 agents and agency staff working to support the operations,” highlighted José Cruz, coordinator of Road Transport at Artran.
In water transport, the expectation is for intense movement, especially in the Marajó region, and Artran will act to curb irregularities, ensure the safety of vessels, and guarantee the rights of passengers, such as half-fare and free passage. The terminals and ports receiving inspection reinforcement include Barcarena (São Francisco and Arapari), Soure, Salvaterra, Juruti, and Santarém, Belém Hydroviary Terminal, Henvil Terminal, and Icoaraci pier, as well as the Amazonat and Rodofluvial ports in Ver-o-Peso and Arapari and Jarumã in the Cidade Velha neighborhood.

“On all holidays, Artran has sought to give special attention to intermunicipal passenger transport to ensure smooth and safe travels. The state government demands continuous service to people so that their rights are respected and consequently complaints are minimal. The Marajó region, for example, has a high flow during this period, and we will be attentive. While everyone will be out enjoying and resting with their families, we will be working,” stated Celso Cruz, manager of Water Transport at Artran.

Mode of operation - In road transport, the operation inspects everything from compliance with schedules to safety items, such as tires and windshields, as well as curbing clandestine vehicles. In the water sector, the main irregularities combated include transporting passengers without authorization, registration issues, unauthorized schedule changes, and improper transport of hazardous materials. Any irregularity in intermunicipal transport should be reported by phone at (91) 98418-6173 or through the official Ombudsman channel: [email protected]
