Technology developed at PCT Guamá paves the way for more efficient energy management
System shows in real time how the user is consuming energy
The Science and Technology Park (PCT) Guamá, the first technological park in the Northern region of Brazil, has the mission of stimulating applied research and innovative and sustainable entrepreneurship, focusing on improving the quality of life of the population.
Among the solutions developed in the innovation ecosystem of PCT is Smart Click, a technology created by Amazon Tech, a resident company of the park. The system allows managing energy consumption and monitoring parameters such as voltage, current, and power factor, providing convenience to track the performance of equipment, residences, or commercial establishments. The system performs real-time readings via the internet and can be used by both solar and conventional energy consumers.
"It helps in managing energy consumption, which is essential today. For example, if the voltage drops to zero, the system sends an alert, preventing losses such as the loss of refrigerated stocks," explains Alex Guedes, a partner at the company. The solution is also recommended for the industrial sector, where energy consumption is high.
The solution benefited from the qualified networking of PCT Guamá, say the company's partners.
The development took two years and received support from the Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (Finep), linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), through the Finep Amazon Notice. The methodology included the installation of a photovoltaic solar plant on the roof of the Entrepreneurial Space, used to validate the technology. Installed at PCT Guamá since 2020, Amazon Tech has already established partnerships with the Center of Excellence in Energy Efficiency of the Amazon (Ceamazon) and participated in initiatives such as Impulso Amazônia.
According to partners Alex Guedes and Elionai Sobrinho, the park's environment offers qualified networking, access to funding notices, and opportunities to participate in strategic projects, such as the Hybrid Mini-Grid of Ceamazon. In addition to Smart Click, the company also created Whatsun, a platform for monitoring generators that received qualification and support from the Startup Pará program, from the State Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet).
Founded in 2018 by two electrical engineers and one mechanical engineer, Amazon Tech emerged from academic experience and the identification of unmet market demands. Specialized in solar energy, the company has already provided hundreds of services in Pará, Amapá, Amazonas, Maranhão, Piauí, and Tocantins. The company's services include projects, implementation and maintenance of solar systems, specialized consulting, R&D in technology, and energy efficiency.
PCT is a reference in innovation in the Amazon
PCT Guamá is an initiative of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet), in partnership with the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (Ufra), managed by the Guamá Foundation.
The PCT is located on the banks of the Guamá River, which gives its name to the complex, between the campuses of UFPA and UFRA, and has a rich biodiversity ecosystem, extending over 72 hectares, designated for buildings and the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of the Metropolitan Region of Belém.
The complex has more than 30 resident companies (physically installed in the park), more than 40 associates (linked to the park but not physically installed), 17 research and development laboratories for processes and products, and a technical school. PCT Guamá is part of the National Association of Promoters of Innovative Enterprises (Anprotec) and the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (Iasp), and is part of the largest innovation ecosystem in the world.
