Gang member arrested by the Civil Police in Belém
The man was identified as one of those responsible for the shooting attack at a training center in the Mangueirão neighborhood, an incident that occurred in the early hours of June 26 of this year
The Civil Police of Pará, through the Department for the Suppression of Criminal Gangs (DRFC) and with the support of the Police Intelligence Center (NIP), executed, this Tuesday (9), a preventive arrest warrant and search and seizure against a man who is part of a criminal gang responsible for illegal collection of fees - the so-called "crime tax" - in the municipality of Belém.
"Our teams went to the Cabanagem neighborhood, where we were able to execute the two judicial warrants issued against the individual. Investigations indicate that he is one of those responsible for the shooting attack that occurred at a gym located in the Mangueirão neighborhood, an incident that took place in the early hours of June 26 of this year, after the victim refused to pay amounts related to the crime tax," explained delegate Augusto Potiguar, who is responsible for the investigation.
Investigations are ongoing in order to suppress the practice of extortion crimes and thus identify other members of the criminal gang who are demanding payments from merchants and business owners in the Metropolitan Region of Belém and in the interior of the State.
The warrants were issued by the Organized Crime Combat Court after a favorable opinion from the Special Action Group for Combating Organized Crime (Gaeco/MPPA).
"The arrested individual will be charged with being part of a criminal organization, aggravated extortion, and firearm discharge. He was taken to the police station, where he underwent standard procedures, and is at the disposal of the Justice," concluded the delegate.
