The Government of Pará, through the Housing Company of Pará (Cohab), delivered property titles to 755 families in Castanhal, in northeastern Pará, this Wednesday (10), at the Usina da Paz, in the Jaderlândia neighborhood, with the presence of Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, along with other state and municipal authorities.

For Governor Helder Barbalho, the sentiment of the day is of guaranteed rights. "You can say from today: 'this house is mine and no one can take it from me.' We celebrate that these families have the right to housing with the guarantee of having possession in fact and in law, which no one can take away from you. I would like to highlight here, lastly, that with this delivery we have reached 40,000 titles delivered, adding the titles delivered by Iterpa and Cohab, and I want to say here that we will work so that by the end of the year this number reaches 50,000, because with the title families have a guarantee to go to the bank and acquire a line of credit to make improvements to their homes, among many other benefits that property title offers," said the governor.

Vice Governor Hana Ghassan detailed that each family is realizing a dream. "You dreamed of receiving this title today. Today I say to each family: let’s remember this day, because when you leave here, your property is already worth more. I want to thank you for your trust in being here. We are at the Usina da Paz, which offers dozens of services and in a block where children practice sports. And we see many works here in Castanhal, roads, schools, daycare centers, your stadium, the convention center that will be delivered to this prosperous, hardworking city, so that it can invest in business tourism, because we are here taking care of the people," said the vice governor.

With this delivery, the number of beneficiaries with land ownership rose to 2,255, just in Castanhal, where 1,503 titles were previously delivered.

President of Cohab, Manoel Pioneiro points out that the delivery reaffirms the work of the Government of Pará throughout the State, bringing education, health, security, and housing. "Since I took over Cohab in January of this year, I have been following the work of Governor Helder and Vice Governor Hana for the benefit of the people of Pará. We are here today delivering 755 titles to you, who are now in fact and in law the owners of your homes. It is a benefit that brings legal security to these families and benefits such as access to social benefits, like Sua Casa, and also lines of credit for those who want to make improvements to their homes."

Currently, Cohab is working on land regularization in areas in the municipalities of Belém, Ananindeua, Marituba, Castanhal, Acará, Tucuruí, Redenção, Marabá, and Santarém. From 2019 to the present, about ten thousand families have benefited from the title of ownership of their homes in Pará.

Housewife Ana Cláudia Oliveira said that the delivery took place on her birthday and that she realized a great dream on a very special day. "Today I woke up very happy, I couldn't receive a better gift. I have lived in this house for over 25 years and I had almost lost hope of receiving the document for it, I am very happy," she said.

Wheelchair user Maria de Fátima Ferreira has lived in the Jaderlândia neighborhood for over ten years and also details that receiving the property title is an old dream. "I am very happy because now the house is mine on paper, this is very good for us, a guarantee," she said.

Land regularization is a process that seeks to guarantee the right to housing, promote the social function of urban property, and the sustainable development of the municipality. Cohab develops the Regularization Project (Reurb-S), which is the land regularization of social interest, aimed at areas predominantly occupied by low-income populations. The title is delivered at no cost to the beneficiary.

The Regularization Project is aimed at families in situations of social vulnerability with a gross family income of up to 5 minimum wages, and who do not own another property. The action occurs through the execution of a set of legal, urban, environmental, and social measures.

The goal is the regularization of urban nuclei that have been occupied disorderly and, thus, guarantee the titling of their occupants, as a way to integrate these families into the territorial ordering of Pará.

During the titling process, the Government of Pará also carries out necessary works, which stimulates urban development and reduces land conflicts.
