The Martir canal, which is receiving sanitation works, was one of the sites visited by the delegation

A delegation composed of representatives from the Government of Pará and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) conducted a technical visit to the COP 30 works financed by the institution in Belém on this Monday (8) and Tuesday (9).

The BNDES delegation visited macro-drainage works with sanitation of the Caraparu, União, Martir, and Murutucu canals, as well as the already completed and delivered channels of Timbó, Cipriano Santos, Gentil, Leal Martins, and Vileta.

"The works we are monitoring in Belém are progressing at a very positive pace, on schedule, and already show the impact they will have for more than 500,000 people in the region. These investments are not just for COP30, but a true legacy of infrastructure, mobility, and quality of life for the city," highlighted Pedro Iootty, engineer at BNDES.

The Tamandaré Linear Park is 95% completed

Another project under the responsibility of the federal bank that was inspected was the Tamandaré Linear Park, which is 95% completed. The space will have 1,344 meters and will be a large area for leisure and contemplation for the population. In addition, it will feature kiosks, a playground for children, landscaping throughout the park, and infrastructure works, urban sanitation, and drainage that will reduce flooding in the region.

“These visits were important, showing the scale of the intervention and the partnership between the Government of Pará and BNDES here in Belém. These are interventions in peripheral areas that transform people's lives at the grassroots level, confirming that this partnership is very important,” stated Pedro Iootty.

The Hydroviário Terminal will be used as a lobby for the hotel ships that will host event participants

The Hydroviário Terminal in Belém, with 78% of the works completed, also received an inspection from the working group of the federal bank. During COP 30, the terminal will be used as a lobby for the hotel ships that will host event participants. After the conference, the space will establish itself as a strategic hub for tourism in the Amazon. The cruises contracted by the federal government will be anchored at the Port of Outeiro.

The State Government is carrying out about 30 structural works in the Metropolitan Region of Belém in preparation for COP 30 in the areas of urban development, tourism, mobility, and macro-drainage with sanitation. The budget for these actions is R$ 4.5 billion, and part of this amount was obtained from BNDES - the remainder comes from the State Treasury, Itaipu Binacional, and Caixa Econômica.
