Semas promotes workshop focused on strengthening the açaí production chain
Training involved officials working on the environmental regularization of enterprises producing products from Pará, such as açaí, cocoa, and others

The State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability of Pará (Semas) held, on Thursday (11), the Workshop for Certification of the Açaí Production Chain Processes in Belém. The event, resulting from the collaboration between Semas, through the Undersecretary for Environmental Management and Regularity (Sagra), and the company Xingu Fruit, aimed to reinforce the licensing process through environmental studies and analyses to strengthen the açaí production chain.
Raul Protázio Romão, Secretary of State for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability of Pará, emphasizes that the internal training promotes closer ties among officials working on the environmental regularization of enterprises producing products from Pará, such as açaí, cocoa, Brazil nuts, pineapple, among others.

“There needs to be a closer relationship between enterprises and licensing agents to enable the economic development of our state. There are robust studies that prove the success of the internationalization of these products and enterprises, which are important vectors for the development of our production chains linked to the bioeconomy,” says Raul Protázio.
Semas operates through the Environmental Licensing Directorate (DLA), reconciling economic development with ecological preservation through the issuance of preliminary licenses, installation licenses, and operation licenses, which aim to detect, mitigate, monitor, or eliminate environmental damage.
“This partnership with Xingu Fruit aims to train our officials on the different international certifications required for Pará's agro-industries that operate and market açaí in the global market, so that it is possible to better understand the integrity parameters of the açaí production chain, thus qualifying the licensing and supporting the quality of Pará's açaí agro-industry, valuing the product of Pará origin and the strength of the main regional bioeconomy,” explains the Deputy Secretary for Environmental Management and Regularity of Semas, Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos.

“The internal workshop on the certifications of the açaí production chain aims to qualify the licensing process based on the global market demand for large açaí industry companies. Through this, we can qualify the studies and environmental analyses required by Semas to carry out a faster and technically qualified licensing process to meet these national and international requests,” explains Rosa Luz Mendes, Coordinator of Industry, Commerce, Services, and Waste at Semas.
Xingu Fruit is an industry for processing and marketing fruit pulps, with açaí as its main product. The company, located in Castanhal, highlights on its official website that it "offers the essence of these fruits while preserving their flavor and the purity of their nutrients."
“Today, the event in partnership with Semas was an opportunity to clarify the company's demands regarding the certifications of the açaí chain and the commitment to sustainable development from the products to the commercialization of the product,” emphasizes Ana Paula Moraes, Quality Manager at Xingu Fruit.
