The Attorney General's Office (PGE) allocated, on the morning of this Tuesday (16), more than 500 items, including bedding (sheets and pillowcases) and towels, to the Creche Lar Cordeirinho de Deus and the philanthropic entity Casa do Menino Jesus, both located in Belém. The donations are part of the citizenship and solidarity actions that mark the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the institution and are the result of an internal gincana, promoted among prosecutors and other employees.

"The PGE is celebrating 40 years of existence and we are promoting a series of events to mark this very important date in our history, but also to bring society to celebrate with us. This is the goal of collecting donations internally. Thus, we involve our employees, who will also be rewarded, and society, through these non-governmental entities, benefiting these institutions in some way," explained State Attorney Roland Massoud, a member of the Organizing Committee for the 40th anniversary celebrations of the institution.

Public utility - The first visit, early in the morning, was to the Creche Lar Cordeirinho de Deus, located on Travessa Castelo Branco, Bairro de São Brás. Founded in March 2005 by Sister Noemi Rodrigues, the non-profit and non-governmental institution relies on the collaboration of society. The children at the daycare are children of low-income or working mothers; referred by the Guardianship Council, Juvenile Court, and Public Ministry; victims of aggression from family members or strangers, and suffering from high-risk illnesses.

The institution is registered with the National Council of Social Assistance, recognized as a municipal, state, and federal public utility, and has registration with the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents. It is also certified as a Charitable Social Assistance entity. Currently, the facility serves more than 200 children, aged 0 to 12 years.

"Every donation is welcome. So, it takes a lot of love to maintain and care for these children as our own. We have 22 children waiting to be adopted, but many people say they want to adopt, but when they learn that these children have some illness, they end up giving up and saying that it is not the right time to adopt. People have a lot of prejudice. We really depend on donations from those who can help," informed Sister Noemi Rodrigues.

The other donations were taken to Casa do Menino Jesus, a philanthropic entity that, for 45 years, has provided assistance to children and adolescents from the interior and other states, who come to the capital of Pará for cancer treatment.

Fundraising - The internal gincana of the PGE raised more than 800 items, which were distributed to three institutions. The first donation occurred in August of this year, when part of the items was allocated to the Abrigo Especial Calabriano. The others took place this Tuesday (16).

This was the second solidarity gincana promoted by the Attorney General's Office, as part of the celebrations for its 40th anniversary. The first took place in April of this year, aiming to collect books and join efforts with the campaign promoted by the Pará Sanitation Company (Cosanpa). At that time, the PGE collected more than 3,000 children's and youth books.
