200-hour course prepares municipal guards for inspection, guidance, and traffic safety in Belém

The State Department of Transit (Detran) held, this Friday, the 19th, the delivery of certificates for 49 municipal guards from the Municipal Secretariat of Security, Public Order, and Urban Mobility of Belém (Segbel). The professionals completed the Training Course for Traffic Inspection and Operation Agents, promoted in partnership between the two agencies.
The training aimed to enhance the technical and practical knowledge of the municipal agents, preparing them to act in an integrated manner in the actions of traffic organization and safety in the capital. During the course, topics such as traffic legislation, inspection procedures, approach techniques, traffic education, and good urban mobility practices were covered.
During the ceremony, the general director of Detran, José Alexandre Buchacra, highlighted the importance of qualification for the traffic system of the capital and the State as a whole. “With the delivery of these certificates, we add 49 more professionals capable of acting in the traffic of Belém. This work requires the integration of federal, state, and municipal spheres to ensure safety and organization. I congratulate the instructors and the guards who dedicated themselves to this training, as only with unity can we provide the best service to the population,” he stated.
The 200-hour course, based on Ordinance No. 966 of Contran, combined theory and practice to train the agents in legislation, traffic engineering, psychology and traffic education, inspection and operation of roads, as well as ethics and professional conduct, preparing them to act safely and responsibly on the roads of Belém.

The manager of People Development at Detran, Vera Brasil, emphasized the strategic role of the partnership. “The course covered fundamental content, from legislation to psychology and traffic operation, always with a focus on practical action. The initiative meets a request from the City Hall of Belém, in the process of municipalizing traffic, and reinforces Detran's role as a state reference in training agents,” she highlighted.
In addition to technical learning, participants developed essential practical skills for acting in different urban traffic scenarios, including situations of heavy vehicle flow, mass events, and integrated inspection operations.

Inspector Roberto Campos, from the Municipal Guard of Belém, emphasized the importance of training for daily street activities. “The training was very beneficial, and all the knowledge acquired from Detran's instructors will be applied on public roads. The Municipal Guard will act in traffic policing with motorcycles and vehicles, focusing on educating, guiding, and, when necessary, notifying offenders. This is a milestone, as it marks the return of the Municipal Guard to traffic after a period of absence, a result of the municipal management's efforts,” he stated.

Municipal guard Carlos Henrique, a participant in the course, highlighted the human dimension of the work. “We received content ranging from legislation to psychology, always with experienced instructors, which greatly enriched the learning. Our focus will be on guidance, because it ensures the protection of life. The main mission of the Guard is to protect road users, animals, and the environment, and only when it is not possible to guide will we act with notification,” he explained.
With the completion of the course and the delivery of certificates, the new agents will reinforce operations in strategic points of the city, increasing the capacity for inspection, guidance, and response to urban mobility demands in Belém.
