State Government launches training program aimed at social assistance managers
Through Seaster, the State reinforces the priority of caring for the population, through investments in strategies that strengthen social assistance policy

The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), launched this Friday (19), at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the national program regarding the training of the Unified Social Assistance System (Suas). On this occasion, about 215 people participated in the event, including state and municipal managers and coordinators of Suas, as well as counselors, who work in the 144 municipalities.
In partnership with UFPA, after a signed agreement, the Government of Pará, through Seaster, reinforces its priority, which is to care for the population, through investments in strategies that strengthen social assistance policy in the State, with the active support of the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger (MDS).
“The realization of this qualification aimed at municipal managers, workers, and counselors of Suas in Pará is the result of an assertive articulation of the State Government, through Seaster, for the improvement of management and the consolidation of an increasingly strong, integrated social protection network committed to socio-assistance rights. The objective of the program is to promote the ongoing education of these workers, managers, and counselors, expanding knowledge, skills, and practices so that the service to the population in vulnerable situations is increasingly qualified, humanized, and effective,” emphasized Inocencio Gasparim, head of Seaster.

The Government of Pará, through Seaster, transfers and monitors UFPA throughout the execution of the program, which will follow within the guarantees of quality of education and logistics for the execution of the program, in the expected period of 12 months, according to the goals defined in the signed agreement.
“This is an excellent initiative, as our municipality appreciates this opportunity to bring knowledge to our daily practice within assistance,” said the counselor from the municipality of Inhangapi, Sonia Moraes.
Training - The ‘CapacitaSUAS – Pará’ will initially offer three courses and aims to reach the participation of 1,044 people, regularly working throughout Pará. Among the themes are the specificity and interface of the basic social protection of Suas, introduction to the exercise of social control, and training in technical supervision in Suas.
The program is a continuing education linked to Suas, which structures social assistance services in Brazil, for the strengthening of public policy, with the training and preparation of professionals, technicians, managers, and counselors, further improving the provision of services to all.
“UFPA is involved in various social programs, such as the quota policy that democratizes access to the university. Education is the main tool we have to combat social inequality, and I am happy to see this initiative from the State, which seeks to invest in training that provides more dignity for all, in addition to having the feeling of satisfaction for the positive impact to come for our population in vulnerable situations,” emphasized Gilmar Pereira, rector of UFPA.

Investment - The value of the agreement signed between the Government of Pará, through Seaster, and UFPA is R$ 889,981.23. This amount is a remaining balance from the last agreement made in 2014.
This negotiation highlights the importance of the debate happening within its reality, which is to show how social assistance works in the Amazon, with the action of an updated and technological institution, with teaching, research, and extension, so that significant advances occur in the professionalization of Suas workers in Pará.
The ceremony also featured the participation of the president of the State Collegiate of Municipal Social Assistance Managers (Coegemas), Luiza Solón, and the president of the State Council of Social Assistance, Zózimo Araújo.
