The Regional Public Hospital of the East (HRPL), in Paragominas, held an event on September 18 and 19 in homage to World Sepsis Day. The initiative, led by the Hospital Infection Control Service (SCIH), aimed to reinforce the importance of early recognition of the syndrome and the correct application of the Sepsis Protocol, already implemented in the unit.

The campaign was primarily directed at healthcare professionals responsible for identifying the first signs of the disease and initiating the protocol. During the program, there were interactive dynamics, such as a memory game, questions and answers with the help of dice, as well as moments for clarifying doubts. Participants who answered the challenges correctly received symbolic prizes.

According to SCIH nurse Wenison Costa, a quick response makes a difference in treatment. "The initial measures, known as the first hour bundle, include the rapid administration of antibiotics, the collection of laboratory tests, such as blood cultures and lactate, and appropriate volume expansion. These measures, when applied in a timely manner, significantly reduce risks for the patient, as each hour of delay in the proper management of sepsis can increase mortality by up to 33%," he explained.

User approval

The hospital's commitment to quality and safety in care is recognized by users. Hospitalized for a surgical procedure, 49-year-old patient Genivaldo da Silva e Silva praised the care received. "This is my first time being hospitalized at HRPL, and everyone deserves congratulations. I am being very well taken care of," he stated.

Between January and August 2025, the unit recorded a satisfaction rate of 98.47%, a result that reflects humanized care, the efficiency of the services provided, and a permanent focus on user safety.
