More than 15 thousand seedlings can be produced annually from the nursery delivered this Monday (22) by the Institute for Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio), in partnership with the Amazon Region Airports Commission (Comara), in Belém. The equipment will allow the preparation of seedlings, which will be used in the recovery of areas where vegetation was suppressed for the opening of landing strips by the civil aviation authority.

The structure was delivered by the president of Ideflor-Bio, Nilson Pinto, along with the vice-president of Comara, Colonel Aviator Antonio Carlos Neves Trigueiro, reinforcing the joint commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development. Also present was the head of the Forest Chain Development Directorate (DDF), Vicente Neto.

Nilson Pinto emphasized that the collaboration with Comara is a clear example of socio-environmental responsibility and for the future of the forest. “With the capacity to produce up to 15 thousand seedlings per year, the nursery will boost reforestation actions, ecological restoration, and community greening, strengthening Comara's autonomy in projects that care for the Amazon,” he emphasized.

Training and assembly of nurseries - According to agronomist and manager of Production and Support for Forest Productive Arrangements, Laura Dias, the implementation of the space will be important for the restoration of vegetation during the opening of landing strips by Comara. “The goal of this nursery is to ensure the perennial production of seedlings, so that Comara can recover degraded areas in the Amazon,” she informed.

Last week, a team from the DDF and members of Comara assembled the nurseries. In addition, a training workshop for seedling production was held to keep the equipment stocked with species.

Laura Dias also highlighted the importance of the partnership between Ideflor-Bio and Comara in the installation of the nursery. “With this equipment, Comara will be contributing not only to achieve its objectives but also to the recovery of degraded areas in the Amazon,” she added.
