The National Traffic Week of 2025 came to an end this Thursday (25), with an educational pit stop held by the State Traffic Department (Detran) on Avenida Senador Lemos, in front of Parque da Cidade, in Belém. The action marked the conclusion of the official program, but awareness activities will continue throughout the semester.

During the morning, the Traffic Education team approached drivers and passengers with guidance on the main risk factors in traffic, reinforcing the need to adopt safer behaviors on the roads. “Even though the name is National Traffic Week, our actions do not end here. We will continue throughout the year with educational awareness activities, always aiming to sensitize drivers and save lives,” emphasized Lucas Aguiar, Detran education agent.

The pit stop also conveyed messages about sustainability and proper waste disposal to the public. During the action, the "lixocar" was distributed to encourage drivers to keep their vehicles clean and avoid littering the streets. “Conscious disposal is also part of safe traffic. Besides being a medium infraction under the Traffic Code, it is an inappropriate behavior that we need to combat,” added the agent.

Jonas Antônio, driver approached at the pit stop

For drivers, Detran's initiatives are seen as fundamental for the safety of the population. Jonas Antônio, a driver approached at the pit stop, assessed the importance of the educational work. “These actions are important to prevent accidents. They alert drivers that there is always someone from our family waiting for us at home. In traffic, our greatest responsibility is to pay attention and care for pedestrians, cyclists, and everyone using the road,” he commented.

With the theme “Slow Down. Your greatest asset is life,” the National Traffic Week included a series of internal and external actions promoted by Detran and partners, including lectures, debates, educational blitzes, and activities in schools. With the conclusion of the program, the agency reinforces that the mission to educate and sensitize society about the importance of safer, more humane, and sustainable traffic continues permanently.
