The Regional Hospital of Oriximiná Menino Jesus (HRMJ) held an event on Thursday (25) to celebrate International Pharmacist Day. The date, established by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), refers to the foundation of the entity in 1912, created to promote the advancement of pharmaceutical education and the improvement of medications and their use.

The program brought together pharmacy students from educational institutions in Oriximiná. For student Thainá Hipolito Salvador, the experience was enriching.
“I found the event very enriching; I was able to acquire a lot of knowledge, and the professionals who work here at the Regional Hospital of Oriximiná Menino Jesus are excellent,” she highlighted.

Pharmacist Hendrick Nobre de Sousa delivered the lecture “Identity and Mission of the Pharmacist in Society,” in which he traced the history of the profession from the 18th century to the present day. “The pharmacist is a professional who updates, adapts, and improves all the time; their mission is to care for the person through the rational use of medications, the process of guidance, the monitoring of pharmacotherapy, and the entire dynamic involving medication and patient,” he explained.

The clinical pharmacist of HRMJ, Elen Juliane da Silva, also participated with the lecture “From Academic to Professional Practice: Challenges and Opportunities.” She highlighted the differences between university theory and everyday practice.

“The market demands a differential from pharmacists. It is necessary to seek specializations, stay updated regarding technologies, innovations, and what the work can contribute to the improvement of the patient,” she emphasized.

The closing featured the discussion circle “Experiences that Inspire,” in which pharmacists from HRMJ shared professional experiences, clarified students' doubts, and offered tips for entering the job market.
