The Santa Tereza D'Ávila State School, located in the municipality of Marituba, Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB), stood out by winning gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Mandacaru Mathematics Olympiad 2025, which includes students from the 4th year of Elementary School to the 3rd year of High School from public and private schools across Brazil.

In total, the state school students won nine medals, including six golds, two silvers, and one bronze, at the “Lampião” level (aimed at High School). The Mandacaru Olympiad values logical reasoning, creative thinking, and a love for solving problems. This year, the competition was held in a single phase with multiple-choice questions, ensuring access for all students in the country.
Mathematics teacher Charles Ruan, responsible for mobilizing and encouraging student participation from the school, highlights the importance of the competition for the development of the school community.
“Students have been dedicated to various national olympiads, and we are increasingly looking for new competitions in search of medals in scientific olympiads. With this, the school now has over 60 national awards,” said the educator.

For 2nd year High School student Jhully Duarte, who won a gold medal in the competition, this moment is one of joy and a sense of duty fulfilled.
“I was a gold medalist in the Mandacaru Mathematics Olympiad, and this was not my first olympiad, but I also participated in Olitef, which also resulted in a gold medal, and I am very happy to see that studying is worth it. It is very rewarding to see how my efforts are being rewarded, winning medals as recognition of all my study. It is very good to receive these medals because every time I do, I feel the need to strive even more to achieve other results. And the fact that my family is very happy makes me want to advance further and engage more in scientific olympiads, encompassing more knowledge,” she shared.
