Governor Helder Barbalho monitors the progress of the bridge works over the Guamá River in São Domingos do Capim
With 50% of the services completed, the structure will eliminate ferries and integrate municipalities in northeastern Pará

Governor Helder Barbalho was in the municipality of São Domingos do Capim on Thursday (26) to monitor the progress of the new bridge over the Guamá River. With a length of 740 meters, the structure has already reached 50% completion and will represent a logistical and social milestone for the northeastern region of Pará, eliminating the need for ferries and improving mobility between municipalities.
The project receives investments exceeding R$ 110 million from the State Government and is generating 200 direct jobs.

Regional integration and development
During the visit, the governor highlighted the direct impacts of the project on the lives of the population and the local economy.
“This is another bridge we are building, with a length of 740 meters, over the Guamá River, near the confluence with the Capim River, in front of the city of São Domingos do Capim. On one side, we have São Domingos; on the other, São Miguel do Guamá. This bridge will eliminate the need for ferries, which greatly delay people's lives. It is an investment of over R$ 110 million from the Government of Pará, generating 200 direct jobs. A project that creates a new logistical alternative, boosts development, generates jobs, income, and improves the lives of the population,” said Helder Barbalho.
The governor also emphasized that the bridge is part of a new road integration corridor between important municipalities in the region.
“On the side of São Miguel do Guamá, the road continues near the community of 21, heading towards the Pará-Maranhão border, reaching up to Castanhal. Now, with this new road delivered today, the connection continues to the Belém-Brasília highway, between the municipalities of Irituia and Mãe do Rio. Therefore, it is a new alternative for integration between Castanhal, São Miguel do Guamá, São Domingos do Capim, Irituia, Mãe do Rio, Aurora do Pará — and all this region that, from now on, can develop even more, with much progress,” highlighted the head of the state executive.

Direct impact on mobility and logistics
In addition to enhancing regional connectivity, the new bridge over the Guamá River represents an important advance in the logistics of transporting people and goods, facilitating access to services, economic opportunities, and public policies. The structure will be essential for the flow of rural production and for circulation between municipalities that until now depended exclusively on ferry transport.

The forecast is that the work will be completed in the coming months, consolidating yet another strategic delivery from the Government of Pará for strengthening the state road infrastructure.
