Green September Blitz strengthens awareness about organ donation at the Women's Hospital
Dynamics were also held in the outpatient clinic of the Government of Pará's health unit, reinforcing the importance of blood donation
With the aim of expanding access to information about organ and blood donation, the Women's Hospital of Pará (HMPA), in Belém, promoted the "Green September Blitz" and the dynamics with myths and truths about the topic, this Friday (26), involving professionals from the assistance and administrative teams of the unit.
During the blitz, drivers were approached with informative materials and received gifts related to World Organ and Tissue Donation Day - September 27. The professionals emphasized the importance of another solidarity cause: blood donation. In the action, held in the hospital's outpatient clinic, there was dialogue about the topics with patients waiting for care.
Awareness - According to patient Jaqueline Chaves, 32, a social worker, the proposal for this awareness is “very valid for us here in the waiting room, because sometimes this information only reaches the family when they are in a mourning process. It is very important for this awareness to come beforehand, both for the person to decide to be a donor and to communicate to the family the desire to donate organs, as many people are on the waiting list for a donation to continue living.”
Resident of the Jurunas neighborhood, Marília Telles, 52, a donor, said she believes that actions like this reinforce the mobilization for the solidarity act. “I am an organ donor and I am a blood donor. This generates empathy by putting oneself in the place of those in need, and brings a lot of peace, both for the recipient and for the family that fulfills the wish of their loved one,” she added.
The project manager Afonso Pimentel shared that the blitz made him reflect on the importance of the topic in daily life. “It is a different and very commendable action, because we do not always stop to think about this. Receiving the guidance and the informative materials was very interesting. It is important to remember that donating organs and donating blood is a gesture that can save lives,” he added.
Rayssa Werneck, Administrative Director of HMPA, highlighted that the mobilizations aim to expand the network of solidarity. “Our goal is to raise awareness in the community, showing that the decision to donate saves many lives and needs to be discussed in families. We take advantage of dates like 'Green September' to reinforce this dialogue, but our commitment is permanent. These educational actions, carried out in a simple and accessible way, have a very large impact, as they reach both patients and the general population. The Women's Hospital is committed to strengthening this network of solidarity, encouraging more and more people to become donors,” emphasized the manager.
