The centennial Military and Symphony Band of the Military Police has a 171-year history and is a cultural heritage of Pará

Throughout this month of September, the Military Police is promoting a diverse program to mark 207 years of foundation in Pará, a date that occurred on the 25th of this month. Established in 1818, the corporation is one of the oldest state institutions and the third oldest in Brazil. From the 26th until Sunday (28th), a large exhibition was organized in partnership with the Bosque Grão-Pará shopping mall, located in the Mangueirão neighborhood of Belém.

The exhibition showcased to the public current and historical equipment, weapons, vehicles, and instruments used by the PM. The 207th anniversary, on the 25th, was marked by a military parade and the Cel. Fontoura race, among other planned activities.

The program, according to the PM, aims to celebrate the 207 years and strengthen social ties with the Pará society. At the exhibition in the shopping center, operational units presented their equipment and vehicles to visitors, such as the Shock Police Battalion (BPChoque), Environmental Police Battalion (BPA), Canine Actions Battalion (BAC), Special Operations Battalion (BOPE), Tactical Motorized Ostensive Patrol Battalion (ROTAM), and the 28th Battalion (Eagle Battalion).

Additionally, the Military Police Academy "Cel Fontoura" (APM) and the Center for Training and Improvement of Ranks (CFAP) highlighted the training processes of military personnel. The PM Memory Center also participated with a space dedicated to showcasing historical milestones, weapons, uniforms, and old vehicles used by the corporation.

Recognized as a Cultural Heritage of Immaterial Nature of the State, a title granted by the State Government and the Legislative Assembly of the State of Pará (Alepa), the Centennial Military Band of the PM also attracted the attention of shopkeepers, merchants, and shoppers, who were able to enjoy the event and take the opportunity to capture the moment.

At the closing of the exhibition on Sunday night, the PM's commander-general, Colonel Ricardo Neves, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff, Colonel Ariel, and other officers, attended the presentations. The PM commander emphasized the importance of the event.

“Today we came to celebrate the closing of our exhibition; we consider this event very important, firstly to celebrate such an important date for all military personnel as the corporation completes 207 years of establishment. Secondly, it serves as an important tool for bringing the PM closer to society. Therefore, I am happy to see the large number of visitors attending the booths and learning a little more about our daily lives and our history,” emphasized Colonel Ricardo Neves.
