Delivered by Governor Helder Barbalho on April 5 of this year, the Miguel Chamon Carajás Polyclinic in Marabá has already transformed the lives of thousands of people. This week, the unit surpassed the mark of 58 thousand appointments, including specialized consultations and medium and high complexity exams. More than just numbers, this achievement translates into stories of care, hope, and access to quality health.

Marinilde Vieira Lima, 40 years old, a resident of São Domingos do Araguaia in the Carajás region, found in the Polyclinic a reference for self-care. After having a gynecological consultation, she mentioned that it was her second time at the unit; the first time, she accompanied her husband for an appointment with the dermatologist.

"If it weren't for the Polyclinic, I don't even know how I would manage to get this care. Here I found attentive doctors and a team that treats us with respect and care. It is a service that makes a difference in our lives because every time I come, I truly feel welcomed. I can only thank for this very humanized care," reported Marinilde.

Since April, the Polyclinic has performed 43 thousand exams, with the most sought after being laboratory tests and imaging tests, such as computed tomography, X-rays, and ultrasound. Specialized consultations totaled about 15 thousand appointments, with the highest demand for orthopedics, cardiology, gynecology, and ophthalmology.

Ávila Suene, 30 years old, a resident of Marabá in the Carajás region, took her daughter Ana Flávia, 10 years old, for an appointment with the psychologist from the Autism Spectrum Disorder Care Center (Natea) at the Polyclinic. She explained that she sought the service because the girl is very intelligent but has difficulty socializing.

"I want a diagnosis to better understand how I can help my daughter develop. Here I found professionals who truly welcome us and give me hope to see Ana grow with more confidence and opportunities," said the mother.

Services:

The Carajás Polyclinic brings together a wide range of medical specialties, ensuring access to consultations in areas such as orthopedics, cardiology, gynecology, ophthalmology, dermatology, anesthesiology, hepatology, infectious diseases, mastology, pulmonology, psychiatry, rheumatology, urology, and clinical neurology. For adults and children, the unit provides care in allergology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, nephrology, and otorhinolaryngology.

Another highlight is Natea, focused on the multiprofessional follow-up of children with autism and their families. The Polyclinic also offers laboratory and imaging tests. Among them are colonoscopy, endoscopy, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, electroencephalogram, fibronasolaryngoscopy, bone densitometry, stress test, magnetic resonance imaging, Doppler ultrasound, computed tomography, and X-rays.

For the director of the Polyclinic, Joabe Lopes, the numbers reflect the team's commitment, but the true highlight is in the way the unit has welcomed the population. "More than consultations and exams, we deliver care. Our goal is for each patient to feel respected and leave here with the certainty that they received quality attention," he stated.

State regulation for appointments
The appointments at the Polyclinic are regulated by the State Regulation Center, under the responsibility of the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). To access the services, citizens must seek a Basic Health Unit in their municipality. After evaluation, the health professional will provide the necessary referral. Then, the patient must present the referral document and their personal data to the Municipal Health Department, which will register and schedule in the State Regulation System.
