XI Zoological Exhibition of Uepa presents a glimpse of the Amazonian fauna to the public
The event is an invitation for the community to learn more about animal life, be enchanted by the diversity of the Amazon, and understand the relevance of environmental preservation

The Center for Social Sciences and Education (CCSE) of the State University of Pará (Uepa) will host, this Friday (3), the XI Zoological Exhibition of Uepa, an event open to the public, completely free, and designed for all age groups. The program, which also refers to Animal Day, celebrated on October 4, will take place from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, at the Living Space of Block VI, Campus I, located at Tv. Djalma Dutra, s/n, Telégrafo neighborhood, in Belém.
Organized by the Dr. Joachim Adis Zoological Collection and the Interdisciplinary Research Group in the Amazon, the Exhibition is held annually and has become part of the institution's scientific dissemination calendar. During the event, visitors will be able to closely observe specimens of insects, invertebrate and vertebrate organisms, as well as unique pieces that spark curiosity, such as a shark's dental arch and a whale rib, among others, recently added to the collection. The exhibition also includes bones, skulls of the black caiman, Amazonian turtle shells, fossils, shells, and animals preserved in liquid medium.
More than just displaying species and materials, the Exhibition's main goal is to bring society closer to scientific knowledge, encouraging reflection on Amazonian biodiversity and the role of each animal in nature. To achieve this, professors, researchers, and undergraduate and graduate students from Uepa act as monitors, explaining in a simple and interactive way the importance of animals, demystifying common fears regarding insects, and presenting curiosities about the regional fauna. This year, under the aegis of COP30, the presentation of this small part of the Amazonian fauna to the public makes the event even more special.
Another highlight of the Exhibition is the commitment to accessibility: this year's edition will feature a sign language interpreter, ensuring the participation of deaf individuals and reinforcing the proposal to democratize access to knowledge. Schools, families, students, and other interested parties are invited to participate in this educational and cultural experience, which unites science, inclusion, and citizenship in one space.
